I don't care what kind of value there is in the race. I won't print 1 ticket without I'll Have Another in the 1st spot. Horse racing needs a hero - horse racing needs (positive) national publicity. As a fan of the sport, I won't bet one cent against this horse on June 9th. Forget the pending Doug O'Neil suspension, this horse is legit in every aspect of the game.. has run 2 perfect races in the TC so far (actually 4 this year).
This race isn't about the jockey, trainer, or owner. It is about the horse -- and I'll Have Another gives his heart and soul every time he runs.
For horse racing - and fans of the sport, there are 100,000 races a year to bet your $$$ on. I hope any true fans of horse racing will sit back and cheer on I'll Have Another - to complete such an incredible task, well he would be the first in my lifetime and I'm not sure I will ever see another one.

i hear you johnnyg7 ...racing does needs a hero but in my book he;s gotta earn it ..it;s not that i don;t want him to win it ,,but can he win it with the new shooters and the horses that skipped the preakness ...3 races in 5 weeks will be a hard task ...this is the test of champions race ..if he wins he wins but if i see something that i think can beat him and the odds are right...i will try to beat him...and i do have some resvatations about this young jockey with some the best riders in the world...

the 79 belmont i believe it was..the bid and his young rider ronnie franklin riding for grover delp a old maryland based trainer..i think he moved to soon and the bid did not have nothing left for that long grueling belmont lane....young jockey cost bid the triple crown..

Heart over head, No ? Did you feel the same way for the last 11 ?

I agree with Johnny. I am not betting the race because I do not want any reason to root against IHA. I have bet against him twice in a row and have ran second both times. Would be huge for the sport.
All the degenerates won't have any quality races to bet on in 10 years if something doesn't happen. PETA already fucked the sport over enough getting "Luck" cancelled

Actually nit man, I never bet against a potential triple crown winner, and I had several of them for the Derby and the Preakness, including Silver Charm, Real Quiet. Smarty, Big Brown. Like I already said, there are a zillion races every year, a hundred grade 1's.
IF YOU ARE A REAL FAN OF HORSE RACING, YOU WILL NOT BET AGAINST ILL HAVE ANOTHER JUNE 9TH.
If you are a nit trying to make $7.00 to win then go ahead and enjoy yourself.
Like I already stated, and I know reading isn't one of your strong suits... I can bet on unlimited races this year, I'm not going against I'll Have Another when I have waited a lifetime to see a triple crown winner. The horse is the real deal. Won't bet to win but will bet my token $50 tri IHA / 2 horses ...1 of which will be Alpha.

Lafayettekid, Spectacular Bid was a great one, I'm really kind of young to remember the details, didn't he run the Belmont after stepping on a pin - if he did, how the hell did he ever even run third?

I have not bet this horse once and not sure I am gonna play him here but if I was to lose .Please let him beat me for the sake of the sport .It is in such bad shape .No coverage at all unless it is Derby .Preakness Belmont, and Breeders cup . The old days you would have found the Met. Peter Pan etc on a weekend on some channel The sport really needs this one but if he dont make it I am sure it was not from a lack of trying 5 WKS 3 RACES AWFULLY TOUGH TASK
Worse thing is for a tragedy to happen .Its a shame the Casinos are taking over the racetracks Belmont is next to add a Casino Yet they dont want us to bet offshore with sports cause people will gamble their pay checks But we will have a Casino every 10 miles

Not sure why you have to insult people to make your point. So I guess you don't short stocks either. LOL

If O'Neil, Mario or Reddam give me a percent of the purse then I will not bet against. Not going to happen, so I will do what is best for my bankroll. My biggest bet ever was Empire Maker in the Belmont against Funny Cide.

It is always intriguing when we have a triple crown potential.
Most serious horseplayers deal with the gambler's dilemma: do you bet an overvauled horse that everyone else is playing due to the potential TC winner, or do you play something that is contrary to your heart?
IF IHA lost either the derby or preakness by a nose, what would the odds be? 5/2? 4-1? As it is, I expect 1-1 or possibly 4/5 on Belmont day. Either way, the odds will be much better than the odds we had on Big Brown and Smarty Jones. Interestingly, one could argue that IHA has some better distance breeding than the other two.
If, however, one has a huge love for another horse, than the value is obviously that horse. The other two horses that others seem to love are Dull-ahan and UR. I expect the odds on Dull to be 5-1 and 7-1 on UR. Hitting the tri, super or any multi-race wagers on those horses would certainly be profitable.
Or one could just hope for bombs away and play an all, hoping for a D'Tara type result.
I can say for certain I will play the overvalued horse for sure, and play one other horse (on top) as a backup. I can certainly understand why horseplayers may bet another horse, however.
I don't think there will be any value in playing the next three favorites (Dull, UR, and Paynter) all on top, because I don't think you will make your money back based on the costs of doing so.

i was young also howzuck...and he did step on a pin or nail or something happen to his hoof ..i will have to try and look it up but yes he was a great horse and his jockey ronnie franklin a young kid went the first part of the race i think the first 3/4 in like 108 or 109 in change which is unheard of in a mile and one half race and he still held on for 3rd behind i think a horse named costal...

I'll Have Another will not win the Belmont. Your best bet is for him to lose which you will win $$. Everyone will hype him up to win and in the end he will not win the race. I've seen it many time before... The Belmont track is too long and he barely won the Preakness.

I agree, pasa, I do think he has a default chance, they will all be gasping for breath in final 1/4 mile, he could win if everyone else is backing up, but at odds of about even money, I think you must play against him - if he wins he will deserve his place in history. But will he finish in the money? What will be his excuse?
