Kansas isn't really very young. They have experience but little depth. Thomas Robinson is a junior, very large and very talented. If he can play without foul trouble Kansas will give a lot of people trouble. He has looked very good over the summer and in their first game. The backcourt is comprised of Sr. Tyshawn Taylor who is sporadic but also very good. In spite of his reputation he is a very good defender and penetrator and is probably in the top 10-15% of PG's in the country this year. Elijah Johnson, JR. is the other guard. He's very athletic and a bit raw, he too looked very good in the opener. Travis Releford and Jeff Withey are the other starters....Releford is an athletic slasher, he has some ability and can play several positions. Withey is 7' and basically sucks....he's soft. He can block a few shots but that is about it. He'll get his cheap buckets when teams help off him to try to stop Robinson.
Kansas doesn't have much in the way of outside shooters. Connor Teahan, 5th year SR will fill that role. He isn't athletic and can be taken advantage of defensively but he can shoot. He is 6'5". Considering the rest of the team consists of slashers and mediocre shooters, Teahan is going to have to make the most of his opportunities and keep teams honest. He should serve that role well. Justin Wesley (Keith Langfords brother) comes off the bench, he's long and athletic but a bit raw. Some kid named Young is a transfer from Loyola Marymount (I believe he was freshman of the year in the WCC two years ago) also plays....he hustles and will hit the boards but he looks pretty slow on his feet to me, although I've only seen him play for a few minutes. Nadir Thaarpe is a freshman PG that went to school with Thomas Robinson...he looks like he might have some ability and will get minutes. He will have his moments where he looks good and also bad.
Kansas is probably 7, maybe 8 deep. The first 6 are really pretty good. If Johnson or Releford develops a shot they could threaten the bottom of the top 10 this year....if they don't they will probably reside closer to 20 in the polls. Kansas is solid, if not elite. They should be able to hang in with anybody though as Robinson is one of the top players in the country.
