A great gameweek of Premier League odds matchups comes to an end with a fixture on Monday. At 8pm local time, we’re set to see a battle between Chelsea and Everton under the floodlights at the iconic Stamford Bridge.
It’s been a difficult season for both clubs, and one in which both have occasionally looked like they’ve taken a step forward, only to take two steps backward.
Sean Dyche’s Everton started the season excellently but suffered bad form and of course, points deductions, which have left them in a battle to avoid a drop to the Championship. At times, they do look like a well-rounded team but at others they look like they met just minutes before kickoff.
Chelsea came into this weekend ninth in the Premier League table and haven’t tasted defeat in their past seven games, but then you have to consider that they also blew a lead against a terrible Sheffield United team just last week. They’ve been devastated with injuries all campaign but very little has gone right. One thing that has gone right is the arrival of Cole Palmer, with the former Man City youngster looking like an excellent piece of business. Our best bet for Chelsea vs Everton is backing the 21-year-old to score.
It really can’t be overstated how well Palmer has done at Chelsea. When he arrived in West London at the end of the summer transfer window, it looked like another piece of questionable business by Chelsea, who seemed to have a transfer policy that involved signing anybody young with any sort of positive reputation.
Todd Boehly’s policy already looks to have a number of misses, and a lot of bad luck with injuries, but Palmer has really excelled. In a matter of months, he’s played so well that he’s earned full England caps, will be in the squad for the Euros this summer, and has become Chelsea’s most influential player.
Through 26 Premier League games, of which four were from the bench, he’s scored 16 goals and assisted a further nine. There have also been goals In the FA Cup and League Cup to add to his portfolio.
Everton are allowing just over 1.35 goals per game this season, and for Chelsea, it’s more likely to be Palmer that gets his name on the scoresheet. His 16 goals are by far the best return, seven goals clear of second placed Nicolas Jackson. He also leads the team in shots per game, averaging three per match, far higher than everybody else, with Jackson averaging 2.1.
Not only that, but he comes into this in sensational form. In his past five games across all competitions, he’s scored seven goals. Against a team battling relegation, he’s bound to fancy his chances of adding to his total for the season.

We’ve seen Chelsea concede two or more goals in each of their last five games in the Premier League, including against Sheffield United last weekend, who are nowhere near the team that Everton are. Both teams to score has also landed in 70% of Chelsea’s games this season, including their last four at Stamford Bridge.
Then, to wrap up the SGP, we’re backing both teams to get a card. We’ve seen Chelsea pick up 89 yellows and three red cards in 30 games, with Everton picking up 64 yellows and one red in 31 games. They’re both averaging well over two cards per game, and so we should see each side leave with a booking.

Chelsea vs Everton side and Over/Under analysis
It’s really hard to pick a winner here. Chelsea can look excellent one minute and then terrible the next, while Everton only won their first Premier League game of 2024 last weekend. A home win seems like a real risk at odds of -139 and not a gamble worth taking. The away win at +340 also feels like it’s not as big of a price as you’d hope. That leaves +330 on the draw as the best combo of likelihood and price.
If you’re looking to bet the Total market, then Over 2.5 goals comes in at -179 with Under 2.5 goals at +150. I’ve no strong lean here, because while 60% of Chelsea’s home games, including their last four, hit three or more goals, I’d be worried about the fact Overs has landed just once in Everton’s past six on the road
