After a pair of high-scoring Overs to begin the series, the Winnipeg Jets head to altitude and take on the best home team in hockey this year in the Colorado Avalanche, who have buried 11 goals through two games. The series enters tonight knotted at 1-1 with the Avs as -165 favorites and the total at 6.5.

Despite the Jets not getting much in net with Connor Hellebuyck, this is still a squad that went 3-0 SU vs. the Avs in the regular season, including two wins at Ball Arena. With the poor goaltending on both sides, two-way scoring is something to bet on tonight.

I offer my free NHL picks with full Jets vs. Avalanche predictions for Friday, April 26.

Jets vs Avalanche prediction

My best bet
Both teams to score 3+ goals (+165 at Sports Interaction

My analysis
Neither goaltender has looked good in the series.

Alexandar Georgiev was awful in Game 1 and Connor Hellebuyck has looked like anything but a Vezina-caliber goalie through two games. This isn’t just a playoff trend between these two teams either, as the Over has lost just twice in the last 10 meetings.

The Over 6.5 is certainly in play tonight and has a better win probability than what I’m about to sell you. But with both teams to score three goals paying +165, that’s where my best bet lies.

I love goals in this game, but good luck finding any value in Colorado Avalanche skater’s point props. Guys like the Winnipeg Jets' Gabe Vilardi and Nick Ehlers aren’t bad Over plays at -110 and +100 respectively, but because of the netminding in the series, the Colorado offense at home, and the matchup history, both clubs will be able to rack up points in Game 3.

The Avs were the highest-scoring offense at home this year, averaging 4.20 goals per game. But they also surrendered 2.71 per match. Their 6.91 total goals per game ranked as the second-highest mark in the league only behind the Maple Leafs at 7.29.

The likely game script sets up perfectly for this prop as the Avs can build that lead vs. the shaky goaltending of Hellebuyck while the Jets’ eventual offensive push will likely show the Colorado weakness, which is the play in the crease.

Georgiev has allowed four or more goals in 70% of his starts over the last 30 days and was even a below-average goalie at home with a .902 SV% despite just six losses, two vs. the Jets.

Look for this game to match the output of Game 1, which was tied 3-3 before the 16-minute mark of the first frame. This is priced as short as +150 at other books.

Jets vs Avalanche same-game parlay (SGP)

Both teams to score 3+ goals

Both teams Over 0.5 1P goals

Kyle Connor anytime goal

Winnipeg has had no issues playing in Colorado this year, taking both games by a combined score of 11-2. My opinion of Georgiev hasn't changed following an OK performance in Game 2. He is still a league-average goalie who has struggled vs. Winnipeg this season.

Both teams can score early and often as Game 1 proved, while Kyle Connor has four points in the series (two goals) and is shooting more than any other Jet. Any game script works for two-way scoring tonight.

Jets vs Avalanche odds

Jets vs Avalanche live odds

Jets vs Avalanche opening odds

  • Puck line: Winnipeg +1.5 (-190) | Colorado -1.5 (+155)
  • Moneyline: Winnipeg +120 | Colorado -145
  • Over/Under: Over 6.5 (-115) | Under 6.5 (-105)

Jets vs Avalanche moneyline and Over/Under analysis

  • Colorado closed as -120 road favorites in Games 1 and 2 and now the move home has swung that line to -165. Home ice is generally worth 20 to 25 points from a neutral location so the move from -120 to -165 is right in line with that. However, Colorado has been the best home team in hockey and this line might get shorter given their success at home.
  • Georgiev is 24-6-1 at home this year but posted an average .902 SV%. The league's best home offense has bailed out the goaltender substantially all season. He's also stopped just 35 of 42 shots at home vs. Winnipeg this year.
  • The Jets' power play is 1-for-5 through two games while the Avs are a little better at 2-for-5.
  • Over the last 10 meetings dating back to April 2022, the Jets are 7-3 SU while the Over is 5-2-3.
