Here we are, at the end of the NCAA Tournament trail, with just the Purdue Boilermakers and UConn Huskies left standing, battling for the national championship.

My intrigue in the result runs concurrent with my ticket, as it’s the last chance to make wagers on college basketball with Purdue vs. UConn props.

With one game left, we’ll supersize these picks, offering not one, but two same-game parlays. It just so happens they’ve been split into Boilermakers and Huskies editions.

Purdue vs UConn SGP pick for National Championship

Zach Edey Over 24.5 points

Braden Smith Over 6.5 assists

Lance Jones Over 1.5 made threes

Zach Edey Over 24.5 points

Purdue Boilermakers big man Zach Edey — the overwhelming favorite for NCAA Player of the Year — has been utterly dominant during March Madness, averaging 28 points and 15.4 rebounds, while shooting a crisp 65.4% from the field.

His scoring line is set for 24.5 points, a number he has topped three times in five games, missing the Over by just a bucket in another.

The UConn Huskies present the final boss for the 7-foot-4 Edey and Purdue to topple.

UConn is allowing just 57.2 points per game and has allowed just one team — Alabama in the Final Four — to score outside the 50s, in an 86-72 game. It also hasn’t allowed any player to crack 25 points all tournament.

But the Huskies haven’t yet faced the nation’s leading scorer, and Edey should be dominant no matter if Purdue wins or loses.

Braden Smith Over 6.5 assists

One of Edey’s best setup men, guard Braden Smith, has been handed a very makeable 6.5 assists line for tonight.

He’s been around that number all tournament, averaging 8.8 per game, while hitting seven or more dimes three times, missing the Over by a single assist in the other two contests.

UConn has been stingy on the assist front, limiting every team it’s faced in the tournament to Under 10 total assists.

But Purdue is a Top-5 assist team in college hoops at 18.7 per game. Smith barely bucks the Huskies’ tourney trend, but he does in the title game.

Lance Jones Over 1.5 made threes

While Smith benefits from keeping Edey well-fed, Lance Jones gets open looks as teams focus their defense on not letting the big man beat them up inside.

Jones is coming off a 4-for-9 effort from downtown in the Final Four win over NC State, and he’s hit at least two triples in four of five tourney games on the year.

Alabama showed UConn’s 66th-ranked 3-point defense could be dinged, as hitting 11-for-23 from downtown in the national semi-final.

The Boilermakers shot 40.6% from distance this year, the second-best mark in the country. Jones will get the looks he needs to bag a pair of triples.

Purdue vs UConn SGP pick #2

Donovan Clingan Under 8.5 rebounds

Tristen Newton Over 5.5 assists

Cam Spencer Under 2.5 made threes

Donovan Clingan Under 8.5 rebounds

Edey has taken on all comers this tournament, but he’ll meet his stiffest competition yet in UConn big man Donovan Clingan.

Clingan has seen his draft stock take off during March Madness, as he’s averaged 16.2 points and nine rebounds on 64.8% shooting. He’s also had four or more blocks in three games.

However, he’s coming off his lowest-rebound game of the tournament with five, making it three times in five games he’s failed to cross the 8.5 rebound line set for tonight's final.

Purdue’s also a Top-5 rebounding team, with Edey possibly making it harder for Clingan to grab what usually would be gimme boards.

Tristen Newton Over 5.5 assists

It’s been a nice run for senior lead guard Tristen Newton, who scored 12 points and dished out nine assists in the win over ‘Bama.

His assist line has stayed at 5.5 virtually all tournament, even though he’s averaging 7.2 dimes, topping this total three times. Purdue has allowed at least one player to dish out at least six assists in each of its last three games.

This looks like an ideal time for Newton to drive and draw the defense to him for some dump-offs, especially if he can get Edey to engage with his penetration.

In a game that should be relatively high-scoring, Newton will dish plenty against the Boilermakers.

Cam Spencer Under 2.5 made threes

Let’s finish with Newton’s senior backcourt mate Cam Spencer, who has a relatively high 2.5 made threes line.

Spencer came through for the Huskies on Saturday night, hitting 3-for-5 from distance — though it’s the first time since UConn’s tourney opener that he’s hit more than two triples.

Purdue’s defense holds opponents to 31.6% shooting from beyond the arc and has allowed only one player all tournament to hit more than a pair of 3-pointers.

That player? Dalton Knecht, the SEC Player of the Year, who is in the running for National Player of the Year. Spencer comes close, but ultimately falls short of this total.
