Jaylen Brown’s future with the Boston Celtics is one of the most heated debates outside of the NBA Finals.

Former players, NBA analysts, and talking heads are at each other’s throats when it comes to the Celtics’ best move on Brown, as he enters the final year of his contract in 2023-24.

Even the Beantown rags have contrasting takes on whether the shooting guard is worth a supermax contract now, or if the team should trade him this offseason and avoid the luxury tax under the new CBA.

With the Celtics embarking on an important offseason, let’s take a look at the NBA odds for Jaylen Brown's next team.

Jaylen Brown's situation at a glance

Amplifying those contentious opinions on Jaylen Brown’s Boston future is his bad showing in the Eastern Conference Finals loss to the Miami Heat. He finished the series averaging just 19 points on 42% shooting, most notably a dry-ice 16% success rate from beyond the arc.

As of right now, the Celtics are saying they want Brown to stick around. President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens didn’t get into the stickiness of contract negotiations but told the media that, “Without a doubt, we want Jaylen to be here, and he’s a big part of us. We believe in him, and I’m thankful for him.”

So, if by some chance Brown’s not a Celtic, then where is he going to play next season?

Whad'ya know. Online sportsbooks also have an opinion on his future, setting odds on Jaylen Brown’s next team – if he’s not back in Boston for the 2023-24 campaign. Here’s a look at the favorites to swing a deal with the C’s this offseason.

Favorites to acquire Jaylen Brown

Atlanta Hawks +200

The Hawks want Trae Young out. That doesn’t mean that Boston wants him in. Young’s contentious locker room relationship made headlines in Atlanta and with the Hawks swapping in new head coach Quin Snyder midway through the season, the team’s plans may not involve the fifth-year pro.

Brown brings more to the table than Young, on both ends of the floor. Despite his misfires from distance in the ECF, Brown is a better threat from beyond the arc and a much better defender — something Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla values. Atlanta would need to add a lot to the deal besides Young for Boston to bite on any trade.

Portland Trail Blazers +300

Should the Celtics send Brown to the Blazers, you’d expect Damian Lillard to come back in return. Portland’s place in Brown “next team” market could have more to do with media hoopla than anything, with infamous shit-take taker Stephen A. Smith insisting the Celtics need to swap Brown for Lillard.

Lillard still has two years left on his current contract given the player option, so Boston might dodge the new CBA tax for an extra year. But Jayson Tatum is the dude in Beantown, which means Dame Time would be on his clock. Is Lillard going to be OK with playing the role of second-hand?

Milwaukee Bucks +350

Brown would fit right into the Bucks’ style of play, especially if small forward Khris Middleton passes on his player option and decides to court free agency this summer. Middleton played just 33 games this year due to injury with his scoring average plummeting to 15 points a game.

Brown can produce on both ends of the floor and is a much better defender than fellow SG Grayson Allen or Pat Connaughton. Teaming him with defensive stalwart Jrue Holiday and having Giannis and Brook Lopez patrolling the paint would make points a premium against Milwaukee.

Golden State Warriors +450

The departure of General Manager Bob Myers could signal the end of the Warriors Era. Golden State may be ready to part with aging assets like Klay Thompson and Draymond Green as well as Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins, who could be tempting adds to a Celtics team that just can’t get over that championship hump.

Much like Portland, Golden State is higher up on this board than it should be thanks to Colin Cowherd letting one rip on this potential trade on his show a few weeks back. The term “Alpha” was used. Yuck.

Chicago Bulls +600

The Lonzo Ball situation in Chicago doesn’t sound good, with the team unsure if he’ll ever play basketball again after undergoing experimental knee surgery — his third in 14 months. There’s a gap to be filled for the Bulls but it doesn’t feel like Brown’s the fit.

Chicago already has quality scorers in DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine, but the offense is doomed to iso purgatory without a true point guard to handle and distribute. That’s not Jaylen.
