Redblacks vs Tiger-Cats predictions

The Redblacks lost 27-16 last Saturday and the honeymoon period with quarterback Caleb Evans ended unceremoniously with the rookie throwing for just 145 yards and three interceptions in the loss. Unfortunately for the Redblacks, they don't have any other real options under center with their top-two QBs still on the IL and last week's backup Taryn Christion suffering a long-term injury when he came on in relief.

Ottawa is just 2-8 SU this season and is 4-16 ATS in its last 20 games. The Ti-Cats are 4-5 and coming off back-to-back losses but they are fresh off a bye and defeated the Redblacks by 17 points when these last met up on September 22.

It's worth mentioning that Hamilton is 4-3 in its last seven games with one of those losses coming in overtime and the other two defeats coming by a single point. This is a competitive Ti-Cats team while the Redblacks, who have lost by double-digits in seven of their eight defeats this season, are not.

The Redblacks offense is dead-last in the league in yards per game with 294.7. They'll be shut down by a dominant Ti-Cats defense that holds foes to the fewest yards per carry (4.5) and the second-fewest yards per pass attempt (7.4) in the league.

Hamilton was the league's top offensive team in both 2018 and 2019 but struggled out of the gate this year due to various injuries. However, quarterback Jeremiah Masoli finally looks healthy after throwing for 361 yards in Week 10, while wide receiver Bralon Addison and tackle Chris van Zeyl recently returned to the lineup as well.

Look for them to take advantage of an Ottawa defense that surrenders a league-high 28.5 ppg. Take the Ti-Cats to win and cover for the fourth straight time between these East Division foes.

Evans led Ottawa to an upset 34-24 victory against Edmonton in Week 9, but the wheels have since fallen off his bandwagon with the Redblacks scoring exactly 16 points in each of their last three games and Evans throwing seven picks. The Ti-Cats have struggled to find their offensive rhythm this season but they have been dominant on defense, holding foes to just 18.4 points per game.

Hamilton has a fantastic front four anchored by Ted Laurent and Ja'Gared Davis, while their linebacker duo of Jovan Santos-Knox and Simoni Lawrence is the best in the league. Expect Evans and the rest of this Ottawa offense to be eaten alive by the Tiger-Cats.

Hamilton hit the Over in Week 10 but they are still 2-10 O/U in their last 12 games and have gone below the total in four straight meetings between these teams at Tim Hortons Field. With the Redlbacks also going 5-2 to the Under in their previous seven contests on the road, back the Under on Saturday.
