Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson odds analysis
It’s JAKE PAUL vs. MIKE TYSON — yes, really! — in a LIVE BOXING event at AT&T Stadium you won’t want to miss. Airing live on Netflix Saturday, July 20 #PaulTyson pic.twitter.com/ULXVeCYeH6

Mike Tyson retired from professional boxing after losing to Kevin McBride in June 2005 at the age of 38. He was already well past his prime by that point and had suffered three of his six career losses over a span of four fights.
Since then, he has fought in a pair of exhibition bouts, one in 2006 against Corey Sanders that wasn't scored and an eight-round draw in 2020 against Roy Jones Jr.
Now, at 57, he'll square off against YouTuber and fledgling boxer Jake Paul, who has made a name for himself in the boxing arena by fighting basketball players, MMA fighters, and aged pugilists like Tyson. In one of his only bouts against an active boxer, Paul lost to Tommy Fury by split decision. However, he did take down 35-year-old Ryan Bourland by first-round knockout on March 2.
Paul's second professional boxing match was on the undercard of that 2020 event that featured Tyson vs. Jones. He knocked former NBA point guard Nate Robinson out in the second round.
So, Paul is returning to the well and fighting a boxer with name recognition but isn't viewed as a legitimate opponent due to his advanced age and lack of activity for the better part of 20 years.
Still, this fight is less about boxing's legitimacy and more about spectacle, which is something both Tyson and Paul acutely understand.
Paul is favored at -163 with Tyson a +130 underdog, which isn't as wide a gap as one might expect for a fight involving a man who hasn't fought a real boxing match in nearly two decades (unless you count the Jones bout). And optimism in Paul could be waning with some sportsbooks listing Tyson as short as +105.

How to read boxing odds
The most common way to bet on a boxing match is picking the overall winner of the bout. With Paul being the favorite for this fight, the minus sign (-) is in front of his odds at -163. That means bettors would need to wager $163 to win $100. A Tyson win would pay out more, as he's the underdog at +130. A $100 wager would lead to a $130 profit.
Other prop bets will become available closer to the fight date, such as the method of victory and round betting.
