2020: Barstool Sportsbook, Betfred Sports, BetMGM, and Caesars Sportsbook launch mobile betting apps in PA. Pennsylvania more than doubles its 2019 sports betting handle, generating over $3.5 billion in total wagers in 2020.

2019: PlaySugarHouse launches its Pennsylvania online sportsbook. The operator takes PA's first legal online bet in May. BetRivers, FanDuel, FOX Bet, DraftKings, Parx (now betPARX), and Unibet launch online operations later in the year. TwinSpires, now closed in PA, also goes live.

2018: The Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) falls as the Supreme Court removes the federal ban on sports betting. In November, Hollywood Casino accepts the first legal wager in Pennsylvania.

2017: Gov. Tom Wolf signs House Bill 271 into law on Oct. 30, legalizing online and retail sports betting in PA.
