Meanwhile, Angel Reese gets a chance at revenge against the Chicago Sky. These WNBA picks expect Reese to have more relative success than Bueckers on Tuesday, June 9.

Angel Reese Over 11.5 rebounds

Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky parted on bad terms. She will not be shy tonight about wanting to put a bruising on her old team, which is arguably the worst-run franchise in the WNBA.

And obviously, Commissioner’s Cup games lend incentive to playing stars deep into a blowout — the Atlanta Dream are 8.5-point road favorites. The Cup is the primary reason Angel Reese played long enough in a 32-point win on Saturday to snag 17 rebounds.

Finding this prop at -120 is delightful, especially when recognizing Reese has cleared this prop in three of her last four games while averaging 13 rebounds per contest in that stretch.

Paige Bueckers Under 18.5 points

While there is some inclination to back Paige Bueckers when playing in her hometown, there is greater logic in trusting the Minnesota Lynx defense, the best unit in the WNBA by more than three points per 100 possessions. The gap between the Lynx’s defensive rating and the No. 2 defensive rating (Atlanta) is more than the gap between No. 2 and No. 5.

Furthermore, Bueckers actually struggled in her two homecomings last year. The Dallas Wings' guard scored just 12 points on 3-for-11 shooting on her first trip and then managed 17 points on 7-for-14 shooting in her second.

Alyssa Thomas Under 15.5 points

Alyssa Thomas has reached double digits only once in her last four games, managing 15 points in a loss at New York.

There was some degree of a mentality shift before this stretch, with Thomas taking 11.3 shots per game in the first seven games of the season and then averaging only 9.5 in her last four contests. That is a notable change, one too distinct to write off because of sample-size concerns.

Until Thomas and the Phoenix Mercury truly figure things out this season, doubting them against the Golden State Valkyries is justifiable.

Douglas Farmer spends his days thinking about college football and his nights thinking about the NBA. His betting habits and coverage follow that same pattern. He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.

In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.

While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
