Last Meeting ( Oct 23, 2016 ) Oakland 33, Jacksonville 16

The Raiders’ playoff hopes are hanging by a thread, but they have an excellent opportunity to keep them alive when they host the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in what will likely be the final game played at Oakland Coliseum. The Raiders play their final two regular-season contests on the road and are moving to Las Vegas for the 2020 season, so chances are they close the Coliseum against Jacksonville, which has lost five straight after a 45-10 drubbing against the Los Angeles Chargers last week.

Oakland is not in a favorable position to make the postseason, sitting two games out of the second wild card with three to play, but its hopes aren’t dashed yet. The Raiders have followed a three-game winning streak with a three-game skid, and need to reverse it again to have a shot at making the playoffs. Jacksonville is playing for the future at this point and trying to determine whether rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew is the long-term answer. The Raiders have won the past three meetings, most recently winning at Jacksonville in 2016.

ABOUT THE JAGUARS (4-9): Jacksonville’s offense has been trending downward for a while now, but it’s been especially abysmal the past two games. The Jaguars have been limited to 242 and 252 total yards in the past two contests as even 1,000-yard rusher Leonard Fournette has been ineffective. The Jaguars’ run defense has been struggling of late, allowing more than 200 yards three times during the five-game skid and narrowly avoiding that fate last week by allowing 195 yards on the ground.

ABOUT THE RAIDERS (6-7): Oakland’s ugly about-face from division title contender to fighting to get to .500 has been somewhat puzzling. One of the biggest culprits has been turnovers - the Raiders have committed six during their three-game skid, including three Derek Carr interceptions - but the defense hasn’t done its part, either. Oakland surrendered a season-high 552 yards in last week’s 42-21 loss to Tennessee.

EXTRA POINTS

1. Jaguars WR DJ Chark needs 44 receiving yards to become the franchise’s first 1,000-yard receiver since 2015.

2. Raiders RB Josh Jacobs has topped 100 scrimmage yards in four of his past five games.

3. Jacksonville DE/LB Josh Allen leads all rookies with nine sacks, the most by a rookie in franchise history.

PREDICTION: Raiders 23, Jaguars 20
