Last Meeting ( Dec 6, 2019 ) Brooklyn 111, Charlotte 104

The Brooklyn Nets aim for their second four-game winning streak in a three-week span when they host the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday. After sweeping a two-game road trip that included a victory over the Hornets in Charlotte, the Nets returned home to knock off Denver 105-102 on Sunday.

Spencer Dinwiddie continued to carry the team with fellow point guard Kyrie Irving (shoulder) on the shelf, capping a 24-point effort with a pair of layups in the final minute. "It's like having an elite running back if you're an NFL coach," coach Kenny Atkinson told reporters of Dinwiddie. "You can just pitch it to him and he can go get a bucket." Brooklyn is 9-3 without Irving and Dinwiddie is averaging 23.8 points and 7.6 assists as the fill-in starter in that span. The Hornets capped a 2-3 homestand with a 114-107 win over Washington on Tuesday behind 29 points from Devonte' Graham.

ABOUT THE HORNETS (10-16): Graham hit 6-of-11 3-pointers Tuesday to improve to 24-for-46 over a four-game span. Charlotte entered the night ranked 28th in the NBA in rebounding differential (minus-4.1), but it had a slight edge in that department against Washington, as centers Bismack Biyombo (13 points, 15 rebounds) and Cody Zeller (14, 10) both notched double-doubles. Zeller scored 17 points against Brooklyn last week and is averaging 14 points on 72 percent shooting in 22 minutes over his last three games.

ABOUT THE NETS (13-10): Center Jarrett Allen also has raised his game in the past few weeks and notched his 12th double-double - seventh in the last eight games - with 19 points and 11 rebounds versus Denver. "I think [the game] is definitely slowing down for me a little bit," Allen told reporters. "I give a lot of credit to Spencer. We have a little connection. We know where each other is going to be and it's just being aggressive on the boards." Allen is averaging 18 points and 13.5 rebounds while shooting 72.7 percent from the floor in two recent wins over the Hornets.
