Manchester United really want that Champions League berth. The Reds are trending up for EPL betting as the most dominant English team since the COVID restart. Man U have gone 5-0 over that stretch, outscoring opposing sides by an aggregate 15-3. They now sit just one point behind fourth-place Leicester City.

Monday, they host Southampton, who are stuck in Premier League purgatory, well clear of both relegation and any hope of a Champs League berth.

Here are our best Premier League predictions and soccer betting picks for Manchester United vs. Southampton on Monday, July 13, with kickoff set for 3 p.m. ET. (Odds courtesy of Bet365)

Manchester United (-344) vs Southampton (+900, Draw +450)

Quick Hitter

Man U have been daunting over the back end of the first half, as @JLHoch astutely observed earlier this week. They’ve pumped in 28 goals from the 15-45-minute mark. Only scoring addicts Manchester City find the net at a higher rate anywhere in the first half.

United have also been first half-heavy on their current win streak, netting 10 of 15 goals in the opening frame. Since we’re counting on them to drive the scoring action in this match – as has much been the case lately – banking on a higher-scoring first half at +200 seems prudent.

Pick: Half with most goals - first (+200)

Team/Player Prop

Danny Ings appears strangely undervalued at an anytime goal price of +250. Ings is averaging 0.56 goals per match this season and has tallied half of Southampton’s post-COVID goals.

There could be some extra incentive for an Ings goal in this match as the Golden Boot race hits the home stretch. Ings sits in third, three goals behind EPL leader Jamie Vardy. He’s taking almost 20 percent more shots since COVID vs. before the layoff, so look for him to keep pressing.

Pick: Danny Ings anytime goal (+250)

Total Bet

It’s tempting to take the Over 3.5 goals here. Man U have averaged 3.0 goals themselves over their past five matches, and could easily top that against one of the EPL’s worst defenses in Southampton.

This could be a toss-up. Taking the Over 2.5 is about as close to printing money as you can come with the way Man U is playing lately. But the -175 leaves something to be desired for bettors seeking a little extra sweat.

At +150, the Over 3.5 seems reasonable, although on what’s already a higher-variance card, we can’t fault the more conservative line here.

Pick: Over 3.5 goals (+150)

Side Bet

Man U are highly likely to win this game, even without the advantage of a crowd at Old Trafford. United are hotter than molten lava right now, and while Southampton hung a clean sheet on Man City last week, that performance looks like more of an outlier compared to their recent schedule.

There’s very little value in betting on the outright win at -334. Not when Man U have been dropping so many first-half goals and are facing a squad who could very easily roll over on the road with only pride to play for.

Count on an end-to-end victory here.

Pick: Manchester United half time/full time (-110)
