One day after George Zimmerman was charged with second-degree murder, Trayvon Martin's mother said she believes her son's killing was an “accident.”
"I believe that it just got out of control," Sybrina Fulton told NBC's "Today" show on Thursday. "And [Zimmerman] couldn't turn the clock back."
Fulton told host Ann Curry she wanted Zimmerman to apologize for fatally shooting her son, and ticked off a list of questions she wished she could ask the 28-year-old volunteer watchman.
"I would ask him, did he know that [Trayvon] was a minor, that he was a teenager, that he did not have a weapon," Fulton said.
"I would ask him that I understand his family is hurting, but think about our family that lost our teenage son," she said, her voice quaking with emotion.
"I'm sure his parents can pick up the phone to call him, but we can't pick up the phone to call Trayvon anymore."
Later on Thursday, Fulton released a statement to MSNBC saying, "in NO way did I mean the shooting was an accident."
“We believe that George Zimmerman stalked my son and murdered him in cold blood. The 'accident' I was referring to was the fact that George Zimmerman and my son ever crossed paths. It was an accidental encounter,” Fulton's statement said.

I just find it interesting that she could go from red to blue and end up not meaning what she said in red to begin with. WTF?
The later explaination of her meaning for 'accident' fell short.
There is nothing to suggest that Zimmerman intended to shoot Trayvon from the beginning. If that was the case he wouldn't have called 911 on himself.
