Well, another triple crown in the books.
Justify has put his name in the history books along with his forever young,2nd time T.C. trainer Bobby Baffert
Im not gonna ramble to long although I easily could.Somehow I feel cheated.Another race winning in unspectacular fashion.Oh I know its not the horses fault. Beautiful horse by the way. Could have ran forever.
I guess what Im saying for those lucky enough to remember, are some of the classic battles that went on in these triple crown races, years gone by.
These were races where no favorite went unchallenged and would have the luxery of racing  wire to wire. Im talking Indian Charlie and Real Quiet. Curlins upset to Street Sense. Smarty Jones and Birdstone.
How bout Monarchos and Point Given,Ferdinands longshot win.
Giacomos stunning win over Afleet Alex.
I miss those races.I look forward to seeing those kind of Kentucky Derby races. Dont know what it is. Just empty after yesterday.
Heres one of my all time favorites where it happen so fast, even Jerkins missed the call as it happened.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I.

vetdrm,   I couldn't agree with you more. The Belmont was always a test of stamina. How the hell did these nine other jockeys sit behind a potential triple crown horse and let him go wire to wire ?

To elaborate any further would make me sound like I'm just angry because I lost.

Angel Cordero, to just name a guy, would never have allowed that to happen.

Vet, I have that empty feeling too, I do remember Ferdinand in the mid 80s, Sunday Silence smashing Easy Goer to deny him Triple Crown after tremendous rivalry, Victory Gallop catching Real Quiet at the wire, Charismatic running third with broken leg trying for Triple Crown, Birdstone and Smarty Jones, etc.  I give Justify all the credit on going wore to wire in the Belmont, a fantastic effort, even against a suspect field, but yeah, suspense seemed to be lacking, watching the race, with the fractions and Justify's tactical speed, I really thought no one would get within 2 lengths of him and no one did......

Lrm you're right Cordero tough as nails.

Guys like Calvin Borel, Edgar Prado, Chris antley,Albarado.Lafit pinkay had some individualism. Some were real characters.

I'm not knocking any of today's current jockeys. They're real athletes something that I could never handle.

Look I forgot about that matchup Sunday silence and easy goer even named some stakes races after the two of them.Good stuff
