 Distaff:
Stellar Wind for most will be the horse to beat Friday.
Unlike some others in here we know she can win on this track [3-3] by her win in the Hirsch. 97 day layoff and with any other horse, I guess that would concern me a little more.
The thing that does concern me though is the fact that she has never won at a 1 1/8.
She also is 0 for 2 in this event whereas a few other quality horses have won at this distance and I dare sat against slightly better competition then stop charging maria.
Abel Tasman 2-2 at this distance maybe the 4th choice and although some say she leveling off,  it would not surprise me at all to see her with all the speed, stalk and be coming late for a good finish.
One I like even more is Forever Unbridled. Ml 4-1 are very good odds on this horse and she can do it all
But unless something changes my pick here is Elate.
One of the youngest in this event is a slight concern, but she is improving dramatically and trainer Mott is 6 for 6 in this event.
Good enough for me.
If this race was 1 1/16 I would possibly have a different opinion but fool me twice, although I didnt play her last year she'll have to prove me wrong.

Paradise Woods loan speed, dangerous.
Elate may just go of as the favorite

Gumba Johnny-you beat me to the punch.
Was planning on adding this horse who many say has the most natural speed in the race.
Some think hell go right to the front and try to wire this field.

2014 and 2015 were ok for me B.C. weekend and then last year I was flogged and stabbed from beginning to end.
Just when you think your beginning to figure this out.
Dont know whether to take a step back and play cautious this time or go guns ablaze'n.

Juvenile Fillies Turf

Happily
Skipped last race because of slight temp and redirected here. But still think shes the horse to beat. Works are great.

Capla Temptress
Race over Dixie Union who went on to beat the boys in Cup and Saucer.   Bill Mott  FTL

Rushing Fall
Tough post but late explosive kick. Likely favorite

Fetale Bere

Orbolution 20-1 Good Pedigree.Well use in Tri's and Supers.

Dirt Mile

I suspect Mo Spirit will go off as the favorite.
I will not endorse any horse that has not raced in 146 days.
Plenty of speed between him and Sharp Azteca so I am hoping
the next pack of runners will stay close enough once the front runners fade.Asking a a lot for both to be off the board.
Practical joke is 0 for 5 around 2 turns so why not run him in a 1 turn race where he is 5 for 5?
However I do think because those 2 turn races were up against the likes of Arrogate and Collected ,he will l get up in time for a slice or a win.
My pick here is a close one between a rapidly improving Cupid
and a proven winner in Accelerate who loves the Del Mar track,

Cupid
Accelerate
Practical Joke

Paradise Woods is not lone speed, Champagne Room will be out there too may even beat PW to the front being on the rail. Stellar Wind will also be very close. PW is a headcase and needs things her own way to win, she’ll get no easy trip here and Union Rags horses don’t thrive at longer distances. She’s never raced 9F and her last race was a joke of a prep. I’d tread lightly with her Vet. GL

My P4 will consist of spreading in the turf races, 4 deep in the Dirt Mile and singling Elate. Her last 3 races were 9F-10F-9F and she seems to just be getting better

Totally agree on the Distaff. To me its the top race on Friday.
Youre right about the 1 Champagne Room, however I dont think she will be with the front runners this day and well be decide to settle back.. Thanks Angry Go Elate

I have bet so many John Sadler horses over the years and he is 0-39 in the Cup so I have to go against Stellar Wind. Elate and Abel Tasman look best to me, Abel's last race was better than looked as she raced up big time on the backstretch on a dead rail.

That Sadler thing is amazing Zimbo
.If you take the time, there are many other stats that literally  jump off the page. For example co favorite Gun Runner is 0-3 at the 10 furlong distance.
Some not as important but all good info just the same.

0-39? Wow!! Regarding Abel Tasman I’m more concerned about her not being able to settle in her last 2 races. Those moves she made in the Alabama and Cotilion won’t fly against this field. Didn’t fly in The Cotillion and it could be argued that she could’ve been DQ’ed at Saratoga. Mike Smiths BC speaks for itself but so does Bill Mott’s record in the Distaff, I’m rolling with Elate for better or worse in the Distaff. GL guys

Race 6 .. like the longy ...# 6 ...Pletcher #1 trainer with 2 year olds on the turf ...bumped last 2 starts out  ... Orbolution goes of at 2-1 in last race ...and 20-1 ...here ... nice value ...

Also like the 1,7,8,11 ....

Race 7 ... living and dying with Mor Spirit ....just what this country needs the most ....

Race 8 like the 4 , 5  , 6 , 7 , 10 ... and 14 as my long shot

Race 9 ... I'm on 4,5,7 ... #7 ..may steal this one upfront ....

Not around much this weekend going to a BC Party / 2 Days of Booze ...the only time I drink heavily in the year !

GL guys !!!

I have to ride #5 Elate in the Distaff as well with Abel Tasman & Stellar Wind completing a chalky tri.

Race 6 the Juvenile Fillies I see it as a toss up between 2 closers in #7 Capla Temptress & Rushing Fall.

Race 7 Mor Spirit looks the best here & I think #3 Sharp Azteca will take it as far as he can go.

Race 8 I see as a real tough race. I'm taking a shot with the Desormeaux bothers & #13 My Boy Jack. I'll play him along with #8 Voting Control, #12 Hemp Hemp Away & #11 Snapper Sinclair.

R10 #4 First Hand Report is my exacta wheel coupled with the horses above in the late double.

BOL to all. Got those Heineken chilling...

Mott 5 for 5 but would be 6 for 6 if Elate crosses the line first.  Here's hoping that's exactly what happens.
