had a great night at the Rose Bowl saturday night, the tottenham boys were outnumbered at least 15-1 but we had the Barca fans applauding some of our chants at the end.
I'm not going to be posting much this season but I will always be doing my futures.
I normally start with league 2 but you have to watch Salford City in the "national league" this season, no they won't be playing the Dodgers but they're owned by the class of 92 Man U players, have had 3 promotions in 4 years and are hoovering up lower league talent and paying big money in that sphere, they could go all the way up to league 1 similar to what MK Dons did a few years ago, a little money goes a long way in these part time leagues. I don't normally back teams at 2/1 when you dont get paid out until May but they could be odds on in October and they look good parlay material with some other short priced favorites.

Jorge, the 1st round overcast for the Carabao is this time next week, mark your calendar!!!!
mistake alert, I meant AFC Wimbledon instead of MK Dons, the former created from the ashes of the old Wimbledon fc. And my beloved Barnet got relegated to the conference, I'd love them to bounce back up but fear they might have to wait a season or two.
League 2 and I had a great run for my money with Luton last year who lead the league by 10 points in February but then slipped to 2nd.
I don't really like any of the 4 teams dropping down from league 1, they're not "big" teams in this sphere and relegated teams have a poor record getting promoted, let alone winning league 2 the next season.
I liked Kevin Nolan as a no holds barred player, he took Notts County to the league 2 playoffs last season and they've brought in some decent talent in Hemmings, Boldewin and ex welsh international Vaughn. I think they can push on this season in a less competitive league. County are England's oldest club, I remember watching them play Tottenham in the 80's as a kid, they 're better than league 2.
Lincoln under the Cowley brothers are not to be underestimated and moneybags Mansfield would be the dangers for me but 13/2 on the magpies is a fair price.

League 1 and I had a great result last year with Wigan winning at 8/1, it paid for all my world cup futures and then some.
Sunderland are the short favorite here and I want to oppose them, they've had 2 terrible seasons and 2 bad relegations, they'll do better at this lower level but 3/1 is a very short price for them to develop a winning mentality again with all the changes they've made.
I mentioned Luton above and I expect them to challenge but they may need another season as would Coventry, Lee Bowyer has done wonders with Charlton but the have boardroom trouble and not much money to work with,
I like Barnsley here, like wigan the year before they were relegated from league 1, they've kept all their squad from last season, Oakwell is a tough place for a road team to go to, at 8/1 the same price Wigan were last year, the Tykes are my pick to win league one, Pompey are the main dangers.

And I forgot to mention Billy "moneyball' Beane is a part owner of Barnsley also.
The Championship, - u always look first at who's been relegated from the EPL and Stoke have been rightly well backed and have spent well but are now too short at 5/1. WBA and Swansea should be the same price, the swans have kept Wilfried Bony, Sam Clucas and Tom Carroll and at 12/1 they are the value bet of the 3 to win the league.
You do often get a winner by a team that got beat in the playoffs last season and while I respect the likes of Forest under the very shrewd Kairaka, Boro under my boy Pulis, Leeds managed by legend Bielsa, I like Villa under forever scowling steve Bruce, I hope they hold onto Grealish, they've just been bought by new owners who plan to invest and at 12/1 I like the 1982 European cup winners to win if Swansea come up short.
Honoroable mentions to Frankie Lampard who's assembled a very interesting squad at Derby and this is a season too early for a rapidly improving Brentford team.
Rotherham are a shoo in to be relegated, I can't see them doing better than 3 other clubs in the league and this can be confidently parlayed with Huddersfield in the EPL to also go down but I'll go into more detail in my EPL preview next week.
and my bad, the EFL cup first round isn't until August 14th, not next week, make sure you have your betting banks ready and don't lose it all on the throwball preseason games.

good results from my picks 1st week but may is a long, long way off.
2 big league start on friday, Ligue Un and the EPL.
My ligue un preview can be summed up in a couple of sentences, PSG will win again easily, its a 3 way dogfight for 2nd between Lyon, Marseille and Monaco which I can't split and who gets relegated is an absolute crapshoot. I don't watch a lot of french football and I wont be this season either.

normally this is more interesting and competitive than who wins the league.
you always look at the 3 promoted clubs first, Wolves have a ton of money and some are predicting a top 10 finish for their ambitious new owners with new signings Moutinho and Patricio. Cardiff are odds on favorites to go down and rightly so as they haven't added much to what was a limited squad, Fulham have a good chance of staying up with the addition of Mitrovic, Schurrle and Seri. I already mentioned this but my best bet in the EPL will be Huddersfield to go down.
Kudos to them for the season they had last year but they definitely had lady luck with them at times, their goal difference was -30 which was bettered by 2 of the teams that were relegated. It sometimes happens that a team can surprise in their first season but then get found out and suffer from the dreaded second season syndrome. They've picked up a couple of useful players from Monaco and the Bundesliga but the likes of southampton will be stronger this year, Brighton have strengthened considerably and I just don't see the Terriers being better than 3 other teams, 5/4 on them to go down is almost all gone.
in top 10 betting, Burnley are a big price at 7/2 to finish in the top 10 again, and I think the improvers will be Palace, West Ham and Southampton, i'd want to be on them in match bets with other teams.
I don't see any angle in top midlands club/top NW club which is effectively the title race anyway or top southern club but I think Tottenham are a good price at 6/4 to be top London club, yes there have been no signings but they've also kept hold of everyone so far, the nucleus of the club is still young and are in their "prime" now, chelsea and arsenal both have new managers, we all know what happened to Man U when Fergie left, Emery has massive shoes to fill, Chelsea will benefit from not being in the CL but there is a bad vibe there, Hazard may still leave, Courtois hasn't turned up for training, maybe a transition season for them.
I'll look at top goalscorer and winner and anything else tomorrow.

so I can't see past Citeh winning again, 4/6 and waiting 9 months to collect isn't most people's idea of fun but it is what it is, but you could always parlay them with Celtic, PSG, Bayern Munich.
Everyone's talking horse is Liverpool, they've bought the goalkeeper they needed but at 4/1, they're now worth fading, they haven't won the league in over 25 years after all, I'm not quite sure I'd trust Klopp to have a defense sorted, they still look very top heavy and Salah is probably due a letdown season.
Of the others Mourinho had made himself one of the favs to be first manager sacked, Chelsea and Arsenal as previously mentioned maybe going thru transitional years, so even through everyone's laughing at tottenham for not signing anyone, we haven't lost anyone either, 2 top 3 places in 2 years, at 20-1 Tottenham may not win the league but they're the best value out there.
For top scorer, like I said I like Salah to have a down season, Kane may also have a below par season, he's been playing non stop for a year now, Aguero has to share service with Jesus and is getting more injury prone as he gets older.
I'm going to take a flyer on Aubemayang, Arsenal aren't in the CL, they wont really care about the Europa, he showed he fits right into the EPL with 10 goals in 13 games at the end of last season, 6/1 is a little short but he's the best value.
Over fest for the Carabao cup Tuesday and we'll look at the other euro leagues next week.

I've done probably the squarest bet of my life but I just can't see past the favorites and I don't want to lock up money for 9 months on individual bets that don't pay much so ......
Placed - 7 Team Parlay Odds +570
Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, PSG, Celtic, New Saints (welsh premier league), Man City

hey buddy. pardon thy 'lateness' last week was a whirl and put everything on 'hold'. likewise, wanted to take some outrights but just didnt like the prices. ur boys for a CL slot was nice but juice attached? i couldnt. by way, saw some of their match at WH this wknd, must feel good to be back at home.
took a chance with Aud top scorer too-- think im gonna regret that. I took Brighton to be relegated, can ya give me ur thoughts? close friend says theyll have trouble scoring and then i see them hang 3 on Mou
thank you for adding Juve to that parlay (lol).
by the way, you owe me a FREE pick this year i plan to use it. then with those winnings will go buy a small island in the Atlantic. lets say.................. Australia.
anyways, GL this year. hope ur around more than you say you will but understand if not.

hallo mate, WH ?, we're playing at wembley until health and safety deem we can move into the new stadium, even with all the moves, should still be top 4.
stay with aubemayang, arsenal are really top heavy and will score a lot this season, he's the sort to get hat-tricks against the likes of Huddersfield and cardiff.
Brighton were great at home last season and obviously just got a great result, i really rate chris hughton, he's a defensive coach so yes, they wont score many but they'll eke out 1-0 and 1-1 scores to stay up.

thanks fer the reply. BHA? heard the rumors surrounding our "friend" Mou. think its kinda funny it takes a team like BHA to put things front & center so to speak.
well, you already know whom i tossed some on with the UCL, Mr "Captain Obvious" typing here . but thats honestly going to be wide open this season. friend bet me a box of cannolis we get stuck with either Real (Ronaldo) or PSG (Gigi) when groups are announced. Gigi coming out of the VISITING locker room? am not looking forward to that possibility Bollox.

Boll, nice call there. ppl might look at it and say "obvious" (or whatever that term is.... but theyd be suprised how often that doesnt hit. well..... glad my guys were able to do SOMETHING for you this year.
im not looking forward to digging out my old thread, its back there somewhere a little different approach as I go heavy on futures especially within Italy and our group of friends dedicate a few days each summer and have a 'war/strategy room discussion on it." but you are right, i dont advise anyone to touch futures if the banroll isnt there and like you said, some just dont like waiting. to each their own but I enjoy reading these posts from 9 months back. its helpful (at least for me) with capping and learning.
was wondering where Lampard went. a lot of times that transition from player to manager is tough. hope hes doing fine.
"Of the others Mourinho had made himself one of the favs to be first manager sacked, " that was darn close ya know if Im not mistaken, I think the EPL sacked their first manager before Serie A did this year for the first time in a century or whatever (laughing). we arent as patient out here
theres a ton of value within lower leagues, just dont have the time for it unless they pass a law to allow 40 hour days.

with all the shocks we've seen, football can also be remarkably straight forward sometimes.
Barca 9 points clear
Spec's Old lady 13 points clear (surely there's a euphemism there )
PSG 16 points clear still crap in europe though
Celtic 6 points clear in the worst league in europe and my only bet in the SPL this year
Blue Moon won by 1 point, still can't figure out the CL eh pep
and plucky New Saints by 12 points
that just leaves Munchen (no umlaut on this computer), who just need a point tomorrow and so I will hedge on Dortmund winning the league at 18/1, its daft not to.
Barnsley came 2nd in league 1 and that came down to the final day so did some nice hedging there,
Spec, as u pointed out in my EPL thread last week, yes, my "local" paid out on Aubemayang, was like a 2/1 winner with the tie but what a chance he had to score a hat trick and win the thing outright, did u see that miss?
And looking back 9 months here spec, some funny comments about Mour... and are u close to buying an island, BTW Australia is in the pacific/indian oceans, not the atlantic , geography 101

Boll, what the heck, I got some time tonight. first of all.... CONGRATS on the season and GL with your boys in a few weeks. everyone has their own "use" for this place; and of course, tho the wins are nice, but the info gleaned from your thoughts is far more valuable than any monetary gain so appreciate taking the time to post.
a few thoughts/comments/rumors.....
- heard from a very valid source that we're going to make some sort of offer for Poch. theres like 4-5 on our radar so I dont know whats to come of it. dont read the media out here this time of year, everyone in such a hurry to be the first to get a story out they dont even bother with fact-finding first. Max taken a LOT of criticism, some of it just, some of it unjust. I liked him for the most part; its not easy being the HC over here. wont go into details but its hard to do everything you want/set out to do. too many powerful people like to stick their noses in where it doesnt belong. folks forget that he took basically the SAME team/roster Conte had the year before he got sacked and took us to the UCL Finals. the man can coach, and is great at X & O's.
- strange year. yes, theres a euphemism. several of them actually.
- local gave me the full payout with Aub. he better have too (laughing). more on principle that anything else; its bloody difficult and you have to be extremely lucky to win a goalscorer prop (unlees one likes paying 3-4-500 juice on Messi, Ronaldo, Lews, Mbappe etc etc etc) due to injuries, resting for UCLs and everything else that is factored into it during course of year. ur just one upturned metal cleat from being put on the treatment table for months & "poof" bye-bye future. . and we dont get credit for the goals from the guy whom replaces them. besides, hes the same one whom stopped taking our exact scorelines at winter break. I guess that 'bothered' him. but for the most part, his reasoning in his words "i have enough juice & parlay enthusiasts to keep the business running"
- no. i didnt see that miss. and you shouldnt have brought it up. (laughing) please dont tell me that was a missed PK during injury time (cause I mentioned that a few months back in a thread somewhere). think I turned a profit from all my Gunner wagers of the year from that prop. cazzo!!!
- lastly, Australia IS in the Atlantic. for the love of dear god get your GPS-thing fixed. its down there right next to Hawaii which borders Canada. i KNOW this cause I drove there once............
have you seen the SIZE of those humpbacks lately??
(Geography 401)
Im going to end this with a quote from a buddy whom sent me a message last week from ur homeland. learned a new british word in the process........, and since you are British I guess you wont need a dictionary/translation like I did to understand.............. regarding VAR next year.
"... this is going to be a gasser."
have a good summer. and dont forget the Menstrual Cup this June.
