Bollox, was never good with time-keeping.

i still cant believe FIFA gave them the bid in '22.   i mean, OK, im all for it with making it a GLOBAL GAME and the promotions, advertising and trying to bring in more of a fan base in some areas but.........   Qatar?????    cmon give me a break.

im sure a lot in here have plenty of stuff to share, be it from a future perspective or the game-by-game; so likewise im hoping plenty can chime in if/when time permits. lots of info to share, and for the first time in my life i can actually cap the WC from an  un-biased, "common-sense" perspective.   (laughing)

nothing worse than ur melon/heart telling you to NOT take some team cuz "if they win that means my team gonna end up playing...."  i swear to god that stuff drives me insane.

should we file a missing persons report on em............??

Im lurking fellas hehe been focused on baseball and nhl playoffs. To be honest i really want to be done with champions before we dive into the cup, i have my holy day off tomorrow, nothing but footie and pucks for me. Its funny because when i got into sports analytics i loved basketball but now i cant stand the nba. Ill try to put up some interesting reports on the cities hosting the matches this year, some commotion going on here and there, on top of the delicate political situations.

my "holy" day is on sunday, napoli coming to town.  so time will be limited to check in here.
agreed, very good advice for anyone considering future plays....wait till domestic seasons are done. nothing worse than taking a team and their star/key player goes down with injury.
i steer wide & clear from other sports. not that they cant be successful,  just no time for it.
dont want to get into the "politics" its always a lightening rod of a topic and detracts from the sport.  every 4 years though sure as the sun comes up some country will use the WC for a political platform.    not that its wrong/right.... i just hate it.

the WC being in europe is like winning the lotto for the host country beacuse of he proximity of huge fan bases whom can AND ARE willing to travel.  good luck trying to find a hotel room
even tiny little Belgium has a freaking HUGE followling out there.

speaking of Belgium: germany & england lads always seem to get all the attention.... but let me tell ya something,  those Belgians can pound those suds down too.  (if Ganda by chance reads this?? heres a       to your bretheren.     i remember back in '16 in the euros in france.  we were paired with waffle-boys during group stage somewhere near lyon.  those lads out there were forming lines outside BEFORE the bars even opened for the day.      bloody alcoholics       Happy hour in belgium, englan, and germany starts right after they get out of the shower practically.   sometimes they dont even take showers ---- afraid theyll miss opening bell due to sleeping late.

and look what FIFA does............... stick belgium and england in same group.  LOL.  all i know is theres some bartenders in russia whom will be putting in serious OT hours.     if theres a prop on Kaliningrad running dry im all over it.

speaking of kaliningrad, thats in lithuania, not russia.  the host city delegation definitely is strange.

"and there will be no english refs or assistants at this world cup..."  one word............................Putin bigsmile

Cody, tho 13 of the 16 openers blew over in brazil 4 years ago i think thats an aberration. havent even looked at game matchups yet but i cringe at 'overs' in 1st rounds. guess i fall into that camp of believers:

1) big bright lights of the world stage sends teams into ultra-conservative approaches. too many teams play 'not-to-lose' rather than try to win.

2) NOBODY.... wants to lose the first match.  theres a stat floating around out there about ur chances of advancing after losing 1st game. it aint pretty.

3) getting nitpicky but some HC...... are incapable of adapting/adjusting. the skill to score goals is there but in the WC is the willingness/desire there too?  there arent 32 "Brazils" playing.

cmon man.  you can do better than that.

69,120 minutes.

for those of us whom are REALLY keeping track and not simply pretending

(cork popping)

done with initial run through of 4 groups already.  saving 'G' for last.  i would like to thank FIFA for putting BOTH my "4 year migraines"  into the same place this time around.  Waffles & Lions, i never know what the do with them   saves me a bundle on aspirin.

FUN, NON-serious topic a buddy emailed me earlier: kinda caught me off-guard cuz those guys are one of the few teams which hit all 5 of my criteria to win the bloody thing again.

"hey, can Germany stop the ungodly streak of defending champions not even advancing out of groups? "

what the?.....   so i checked.........YIKES!!!!!

i hate when friends send me that kinda sh*t.

LOL

that says all you need to know about the self-proclaimed "pro".   the one whom referred to Carroll as a "world-class" striker.

actually, the opening match (Russia/Saudi) is on June 14th.

60,480 minutes.

and to answer the trivia sir:

Italy is the only country whom have ever won the WC without winning their group stage ('82)

so, if we are feeling super-confident of a certain country to hoist that ugly trophy... might as well plunk some change on them for Group winner as well.  (juice n all)
theres reasoning behind that but no time to get into it now.

whats your worst loss in WC?  not from the monetary aspect.  everyone has this one game in their lifetime which is stuck in their melons and takes forever to get over.

mine is/was '94. when Baggio put that one over the crossbar....... boy, did life s*ck for a long while. if they dropped a nuclear bomb on LA i wouldnt have minded (laughing).

in all seriousness tho'.   that one hurt pretty bad.

more trivia: at the risk of p*ssing off Duece.

Whom are the 3 countries to win the WC on their home soil?  (hint: its happened just once in past 40 years)
