and if ya miss the wrong thread and have to start over? ... youre brought back to top of page?
geez, theres gotta be an easier way to find old threads.
With a little over 1/2 of the season in the books, thought id update this thread, had the writeups last week but no time:
Serie A Winner Without Juventus (ie... 2nd place): Napoli @+125: with a 9 pt lead on Inter theyre in a nice spot. dont have to worry about the injury bug as theyve been hit pretty hard already. Millik cleared to start training I believe; but with the injury he's recovering from (ACL) his minutes will be watched. Scudetto still gotta run thru Turin but their final H2H is NOT what will decide this, for this wager tho', Im not worried my Juve, its whom is behind them (3rd place)
Torino to finish in Top 4 @+2000: Belottis injury put a huge dent in this. I didnt see Mihal sacking coming at all. and those early season draws vs creampuffs gonna come back to haunt me later. still within striking distance though but 12 pts out & theyre gonna have to rip off one h*ll of a winning streak. theyre capable, but little room for error.
To win the scoring title: Belotti (Torino) +1250 POOF!!! this will be Immobiles to lose, as long as he remains healthy.
Benevento to be relegated @-225 as I put back in august "safest" of all my future plays": showing signs of life with 2 straight wins; but they only have 7 pts. historically, in/around 34 is the target to survive. theyll be lucky to reach 20.
Serie B:
Palermo to be promoted @+140 - in 1st at the break. tied with Parma having the stingiest defense & the only side unbeaten on road.
Parma to be promoted @+195 (favorite of the season) - 5th place (4pts out of 2nd place auto spot) their 3 best players locked into contracts so team will be largely unaffected during transfer season. 3rd straight promotion within reach. hoping they can qualify directly and not via play-off route.
Parma to win outright @+750 - right where I expected/hoped theyd be.

England:
Man City to win title @+170 - I dont follow EPL on a day-to-day basis. but at this stage a 15 pt lead seems like a nice cushion to fall back on when ya consider theyre still in CL. but then again....so are the other 4 teams below them. i REFUSE to think of this as a 'W'. are double-digit comebacks common in EPL? this is a tough league to consistently play at the level theyve been at.
Tottenham to win @+900; to finish in Top 4 @-130 - 21 behind ManC is too much. and if they get by my Juve in CL and all the distractions that would bring.... 4th place would be at risk too. will be sitting on pins & needles with this juiced future. it's gettin' crowded fer Europe next year.
Spain:
Villareal to finish in top 4 @+500 - at start of season I knew it was gonna be a battle of the "V's" (Valencia, Vill, Sevilla). not thrilled with the 8 pt cushion Valencia has; Vill gonna need to come away with AT LEAST 4 pts from the 3 big boys. 3 of their last 5 matches????...... Barca,Valencia,Real. (bleep!!!) I honestly dunno whats going on with Real. more pins & needles.
Germany:
Bundesliga winner without Munich (ie, 2nd place): Dortmund @-130 - logjam behind Munich whom are running away with it all again. bitten by injury bug big time & no more CL will help this cause. Europa? need to check the clubs motivation for this. just 2 behind Schalke but 28 pts thru 17 games in NOT what I had expected of them. hoping they can get themselves in gear but still in nice position.
Werder Bremen to finish in top 4 @+1000 - in hindsight, my "laugher" prediction of the season. how bad was this one? they could prob go unbeaten rest of the way and still not qualify for Europe. LOL.
USA:
To win MLS Cup: Dallas +800 POOF!
Toronto +600
UCL:
Group A:
Basel to Qualify @+275 - tho' I try to remain a "robot" that injury time goal vs ManU was the biggest of the season (to date) for me.
Sporting CP to Qualify @+600 - lost this at the expense of Juve advancing. cant complain ehh? how the h*ll was I spposed to know Italy wouldnt qualify fer WC.
decent start for these. the two wins gave me a nice cushion heading into 2nd half.

Nice work Spec. I didn't frequent the site when these were posted but I enjoyed reading them now, after knowing how it all played out. Spot on with some of them. Favorite part was probably Dortmund getting the Cazzo. What a let down they were this season. Seeing PEA leave also hurts. Enjoy the "off season"
