Utah is insanely scenic, much like parts of Colorado. When I moved from NY to Vegas my jaw hit the floor seeing most of the Southwest for the first time. Incredible...

Birmingham Alabama..... its a complete dump,
It was once truly the "Magic City" but now nothing but slums. Political corruption, with businesses long gotten out of town, replaced by crackhouses and crime.

You sound like a typical tourist. Now go hustle back to suburbia.

I disagree with this. I've been to Cleveland 5 times for a couple days each time and had a blast everytime. Met a bunch of locals and actually found them all to be very friendly. Mabye I just got lucky and if I lived there it'd be a different story, but I promise you Detroit is much much worse then Cleveland, I dont know how it can even be debated by someone that has visited both cities. Detroit is a living nightmare. New York City also blows, been there once and seen all 5 borroughs. Glad I went once to see it, but I sincerely hope I never have to go back to that dump.
Worst/most miserable cities in USA that I've personally been to:
1. Detroit, MI
2. Oakland, Cal
If you can visit either and go unscathed, buy a lotto ticket cuz you are 1 of the luckiest people in the world. Lay off Cleveland, its not as bad as advertised.
