Well sickos and Degens , It's that time of year again. The University of New Mexico

is the first out of the gate with their " Spring Showcase " which was held today 3 / 3.

This kicks off Spring football which will go on from now thru April 28th.

This gets us one step closer to Week 1 of College Football.   an_happydude

We're getting closer bud . Right now I'm just trying to make sure
I don't gave back any of my CFB winnings back to the Books by
betting on CBB right now.

Link to schedule; http://www.fbschedules.com/spring-football-game-schedule/

Some folks say you can't get much take on a team by watching spring games, but I disagree. Sure they are exibitions and sometimes staged to show off a particular talent but you can read between the lines.
I focus on Big10 teams. Last spring Ohio State's secondary looked lost in the spring game. Myers said before the game that Barrett was hitting 90% of long throws, a big improvement! He never threw a long one in that spring game. Hmmm. In the regular season Oklahoma exposed that secondary, mainly linebackers, and Barrett was not improved.

Michigan's offense was sputtering in the spring game and the defense was outstanding. Same thing in the regular season.

Thanks for posting link to spring game schedules , Bud. I think a
lot of information can be gained thru watching Spring football.
With all of the coaching / Coordinator changes , QB changes ,
111 underclassmen declaring for the NFL draft , and graduations,
some teams will look a lot different than they did last season.
Spring games give us a first glimpse of where teams are relative to
last season. While I don't take them too seriously , It's a good
chance to see where a team might over or underperform at key
positions coming out of the gate in week 1.

Wise - can you remind me of what your early early season rule of thumb is on teams with new coaches, new OC's and new QBs?   You told me this several years ago.   Will you not touch them in September?    Thank you in advance.

LH , I have a rule where I will not wager on a team
with a new HC , O and / or D Coord. , or QB in
weeks 1 & 2 so I can get a little " history " on their
capability. Also , teams typically do not play quality
opponents early so you have to temper your
assessment going forward from there with that in
mind.
The only exception to this is if the change results in
a potentially  measurable improvement in a team
and value is created vs the line on the matchup.

LH , It's important to note that above and beyond
normal losses due to graduation , this year there
are also 111 underclassmen who have declared for
the upcoming NFL draft.
This means that a number of prominent teams are
highly likely to start slow due to a high percentage
of net offensive and / or defensive production lost.

Be careful of high priced faves in week 1.

agreed! and you know I have a rep for backing those HP faves in week 1...will look to take my capping to the next level and not be a chump...I find week 1 to be a huge challenge every year...
