Rumors are circulating that the Tide may be looking
to add ECU graduate transfer QB Gardner Minshew
to the roster.

Bama currently has 3 rostered scholarship QB's so
this could be a an insurance policy for the Tide in
case Jalen Hurts decides to transfer.

Makes little sense. Why would Hurts transfer? Academics?

The rumor is that he may transfer to get playing
time as he does not want to change position.
He is not a student of the passing game , and
may not have the confidence in his ability to
deliver the ball downfield in critical situations .

But so many people were touting him as a Heisman candidate. Suddenly he can't play anymore? Surely the experts couldn't have been that wrong about him?

It all boils down to passing production from the
Quarterback position. I'm sure they will compete
this Spring, but I do not see Hurts improving as a
passer.
FWIW , the Tide has  been hit with major changes
to their coaching staff , losing both Coordinators.
a well as a large number of position coaches and
assistants.
The Tide will not succeed at the level expected of
them without a legitimate passing game this year.
I expect they will find a greater chance to succeed
in the passing game with Tua. That means that
Hurts'  options will be a backup , change position ,
or transfer.

Are you ready for this ?

Gardner Minshew has decommitted from Alabama ,
and will enroll at Washington State instead.

Hope he's finally made up his mind .

Wazzu has an immediate opening @ qb, what with Falk moving on & the tragic loss of Hilinski. He'll have a fair opportunity to win the starting job, & will likely develop more as a qb under Leach than just working the system at bama. I don't know much about Minshew, or any chances of him playing at the next level......watched very little ECU last season.....but his choice has to be about his chances of getting to play/start.

Take away Jalen's running ability, and he's probably the worst QB in D-I football.  Quite simply, he's not a D-I caliber QB and, out of three scholarship QBs on the roster, he's third best.  I think the Georgia game will be the last start of his college career.  While some other program may take a chance on him if he were to transfer, but I seriously doubt he could actually win the starting gig.
