Depending on what underclassman return for another season, and which players declare for the NFL draft, it's tough to say what teams will be serious contenders. It's hard to imagine Alabama and Georgia not being right back into the mix.  Georgia will return their entire Oline, their freshman QB Jake Fromm, superstar freshman RB Deandre Swift, two exceptional TE's Charlie Woerner, and Isaac Nauta, star Wr's Terry Godwin, and Mecole Hardman will both be back.  Several of their defenders will have a decision to make, regardless Georgia is bringing in a loaded recruiting class.

Alabama should be favorites to win it all, especially when you look at how dominant the Alabama freshman were during this game.  QB Tua Tuavalogia elevated the rest of the offense, the true freshman Wr's who were irrelevant all season played great.  Jerry Jeudy, Devonta Smith, and Henry Ruggs all showed why they were highly recruited. Freshman RB Najae Harris was Alabama's best RB, and Alex Leatherwood played great at OT.

Defensively Alabama returns several key players, like Terrell Lewis, Anfernee Jennings, Mack Wilson, Raekwon Davis, Dylan Moses, Isiah Buggs, and Safety Deionte Thompson.

I'd be surprised if Alabama, and Georgia werent back, but I also expect Oklahoma, Clemson, FSU, and Ohio State to be back as well...

Oklahoma is losing Baker Mayfield, but I expect Kyler Murray to fill in with little to no drop off.. They should have a very high powered offense again.

Clemson could easily win the entire thing, but they could really use a few underclassman to return to the program.

Ohio State should have one of the best defenses in the country, starting with Nick Bosa on the DL..  Their secondary could be the best in the nation with Kendall Sheffield, and several other 5 star recruits..  Offensively Dwyane Haskins looks like an improvement at QB, and they return their start Rb's and Wr's...

Florida State could be a sleeper team as well... FSU struggled this year, but their top OLine recruits were all battling injury.  Baveon Johnson was the #1 Center in 2016, FSU also lost their top OT Landon Dickerson and Redshirt OG Bosselli.  They will be returning a much better Oline than they had this year, with almost every starter returning.

FSU will also be getting a major upgrade at QB, with Deondre Francois returning.  Their Rb's Khalan Laborn and Cam Akers is a great duo, and they should have several 4-5 star Wr's returning.

Defensively, they will be losing a lot of players, but they have recruited very well on the defensive side of the ball, not to mention players like Brian Burns, Stanford Samuels, Levonta Taylor, Kyle Meyers, Marvin Wilson, Jaiden Woodbury, Joshua Kaindoh, Cyrus Fagan, Jal'an Parks, Hamsah Nasirildeen

Double , of the 11 teams that you list , due to grad.
losses and early entrants to the NFL draft ......

1. One team loses 8 starters on defense.

2. One team loses their entire starting D line and
    secondary.

3. One team loses their entire D secondary as well
    as 7 offensive starters.

4. One team loses their entire starting D line as well
    as key starters on offense.

Players have until Jan 15 to declare for the draft , so
things may deteriorate further for some teams.

The more prominent teams are most affected by this

whoa ...Lots of losses for sure on the schools I listed. .. Made a top 10 list last year after the National Championship ,and 7 of the 11 remained there ... This year might be different , lots of work to do ....

The sheer number of losses by many teams translates
to losses in career starts , which means losses in
production at key positions. This will hurt a lot of
teams early in the season.

Adjust Power Ratings accordingly

I do adjust them all year , but I try NOT to over do it when it comes to returning starters ... Need to see snaps played and Playing time in the depth chart as well ... Also see who comes back from a in season injury

Double , For most it should not over emphasised .
I utilize a combination of scheme and player grades
at key positions to establish a probability of overall
production. It helps me establish TLV , so it is more
important to me than it should be for most.

Alabama is the only team that just reloads year after year after year...They will lose some players to the draft but the ones in waiting are just as good if not better.

Georgia loses a lot players. especially their RB's & LB's...They have had couple of great recruiting classes under Smart but can they just reload.  If that was the case then USC or FSU would pretty much be there every year as they get top 5 classes year in year out.

Bama Safeties Fitzpatrick and Harrison , have declared
for the NFL draft today.  This brings to 7 Defensive
starters lost for next season. Defensive Coordinator
Jeremy Pruitt also moves on to become Head Coach
at Tennessee.

Washington will return a lot of starters, along with getting some back from injury. Browning returns @ qb.....it looked like he had an off year but a lot had to do with losing targets to injury & not wanting to force the ball. He still ended up one of the top rated passers in D1.  DT Gaines says he's returning as is AA LT Trey Adams (injured early).......Gaskin is still undecided.......& much like two years ago, they'll have one of the best 2ndarys in the country. They only had about 15 seniors on the roster.

I think Penn States offense may actually be better next year than it was this year.   Unfortunately they did not add anything to beef up their OOC schedule (App St, Kent St, Pitt) but they do get Michigan State and Ohio State at home with a bye between the games.

Huskies will go as far as Browning takes them...Another 9-3 season maybe 10-2 season.  He's a good college QB but not great by any means.   I believe he is holding the Huskies back.

Where will Jacob Eason end up?

I don't know how LSU could let him get away

Eason likely going to Washington. Miami would be 2nd choice (Richt). Word down here in GA is that he is going back to his home state. Good kid, handled the situation great. Had to tough watching Fromm all year.

Michigan had maybe the best defense in the ation but they just could not put up points..........They only had 2 returning starters on offense..........I look for them to contend this year.
