The Reds have rarely swept teams, the most notable ones were the Cubs at home a month ago and Dodgers on the road two months before in 4 game sets. The Reds are in a good position to go for another sweep again, this months potential victim.. the Cleveland Indians. The Reds have dominated the AL Central going 10-2 this season - swept the Tigers and Royals in 2 game sets, but lost a game in the best of 3 to White Sox and Twins. Reds have a chance to get their first 3 game sweep off the best team in the AL Central and i believe they can
Mahle has been the Reds most surprising and consistent pitchers on the rotation and has been mostly superb in interleague play going 3-0 with 12 hits, 3 runs, 16 Ks to 8 BBs and 2 HRs agaunst AL Central. Carrasco comes in at 2-0 with 13 hits, 3 runs, 24 Ks to 2 BBs in interleague play and is unquestionably the more seasoned pitcher in this match. However, Carrasco has shown inconsistency from time to time and i think the Reds are facing him at the right time. The Reds have seen Carrasco before and this particular roster is batting a decent .275(11 of 40 ABs) with 5 RBIs against Carrasco while the Indians will see Mahle for the first time. The Reds will get some runs off him just enough time to also make good work of the Indians bullpen which have given up a whopping 17 runs in the last 4 games..
I'll take my chances with the Reds today
