Two years, $16 million. Imho this could be a "sneaky-good" signing. Nothing spectacular, sort of like a right handed Jamie Moyer. He gets his outs and puts you in a position to win. His 11-11 record last year was highly deceiving. He turned in a 3.40 era pitching in Arlington and posted a 20-8 quality start record per my system. Poster boy for "Under the Radar"

Red Sox #7 in OPS and #6 in BA vs GB pitchers last year. Averaging a run for every 7.09 plate appearances.
Blue Jays #18 in OPS and #13 in BA. Averaging a run for every 8.63 plate appearances.
Yankees #19 in OPS and #18 in BA. Averaging a run for every 7.90 plate appearances. Newly acquired Giancarlo Stanton vs GB pitchers in 2017 hit .296/1.036. Dude likes the ball down.
*did you know? Stanton and Judge have the fastest bat speeds in the Majors. I highly doubt that there's ever been b2b batters in a lineup before who sport the #1 and #2 bat speeds. fun fact*
Cashner vs the AL East(last season)
Red Sox: .209/.593 ERA=3.75
Blue Jays: .227/.553 ERA=1.29
Yankees: .167/.379 ERA=1.29
Cashner vs the AL East 2016
Yankees: .250/.724 ERA=1.50
Blue Jays: .200/.854 ERA=4.50
He did not face the AL East in 2015, but frankly there's no reason to look back any further.
"Sneaky Good Signing" <----------I'll tentatively agree with this quote. I think there's good value in the contract that he got. For that ball park, where balls fly out as if there was no atmosphere in the hot summer, I think he'll fit nicely.
@ Golden Goose, looks like your BoSox lineup has the best chance against him. Not the "We could hit 3 years ago" Blue jays, and not the "Future HR record breaking Yankees" All though, as stated above it looks like Stanton eats off of guys like Cashner. And personally, I thought that his change in batting stance last year did him wonders.

Personally I think the O’s will be much better than the average MLB fan/bettor predicts. Bundy will be solid, Gausman had a much better 2nd half, and Cashner will fit in nicely here. The team can still hit and the bullpen is pretty good, not to mention Buck is still the coach.

LOL. Facing a team only once during a season can make any pitcher look like Cy Young. Try facing a team four times a season and lets take a look at the REAL results.

Goose, old buddy, you are a friend and I have respect for your opinion, except when you get carried away with love of your BoSox and the A.L. East. I will grant it is home run derby there every year, not just because of the players and parks, but meteorological conditions are perfect. A guy like Cashner may fair very well there, since ground balls have very little chance of clearing the fence. A sneaky good ground ball pitcher may be every bit as valuable as a big name strikeout guy. Cashner was surprisingly successful in another home run derby park in Arlington. At least he surprised the sh/t out of me, if noone else. Have a good look at the guy before you write him off.
sac; Only two possible comparisons for bat speed come to mind as far as back-to-back hitters go, but it is impossible to determine. Mantle-Maris may have been there because Mantle clearly had the fastest bat swing in history. It would only be a matter of what Maris contributed, but he was no one-year-wonder as so many amateur historians like to think. Ruth-Gehrig would be another possibility, but as I said, it is impossible to know now. Fun subject to speculate on though.

Don't need it in Arizona anymore, warm and the boys are ready to play ball. How does that feel when you have to deliver 3,000 cases of beer, then go home and shovel snow?

We got 40 degrees today! And a high of 60 possibly tomorrow
Only to be followed by freezing rain/sleet/snow overnight into Wednesday morning and a high of 30....
Only in Chicago. I still don't know why I haven't moved to anywhere but here.
Because people from Chicago love that town, even those that have not lived there for 50 years still talk about how great it is, Now back to baseball, bat speed,Mays-McCovey or Mays-Cepeda come to mind in my younger years, but for one hitter who will never get any credit for what he did,he had the quickest swing I have ever seen, get ready to BOO my friends. BARRY BONDS

OK, you asked for it. A big boo to steroid barry. The rest of those guys ran on regular, but needed premium, or more probably, nitro-methane like the dragsters run on.
Mays was quick, but McCovey and Cepeda were muscle hitters

Cashner moving into a much tougher Division onto an Orioles team expected to finish last in that division and which scored 50 less runs than Cashner's Rangers in 2017. I don't care how "sneaky good" he performs in 2018 the numbers simply don't add up and Cashner will get pummeled in the AL East. You play him. I will fade him.

Yeh I liked Mays with Cepeda better in terms of bat speed, but wanted to put Mays in the discussion but could not come up with a good second hitter so picked the 2 HOFers.

And no matter what all you Giants hater think Bonds was a great player and most of baseball was taking PEDs during that period, some not as long like Brady Anderson made it in someones book,he was suppose to have said he was going to take them for his contract year only. He hit 50 Homers and over 100 rbi, plus he hit around 330 that one year, got his big contract and was out of baseball before it was up.Now he was smart about it,plus how many guys that would not take them never got a chance to play in the pros because they could not compete against the drug users in some cases I would bet happen also. But I can look at a baseball card of Bonds with Pittsburgh years before he played with SF and his cards with the Giants in some years do not look like the same person so I have to admit Bonds could of been on them the longest.

Sorry, JEG, Barry Bonds was a great player; a Hall Of Famer without steroids. "Everyone else is doing it" is easily the worst excuse for doing anything illegal, immoral or unethical.
