Sounds to me like you were either stoned or completely loaded when you were watching Lundqvist play over the years. It's the only way he would have appeared average to you. Dreamer...

Sorry, i didnt want to change this thread into a goalie spat. The rags are a good team and playing well thanks to a mostly soft and strategic schedule from the league (i.e the Leafs on a B2B last night followed up by marshmallow Habs coming off a B2B) Congrats on the early early success

why are we responding to a bitter devil fan and uneducated morons? It doesn't matter who we think the best team is half way through the season. It matters who gets seeded where at season's end and what we do with it at that point. Rangers are clearly top 5 if not top 3 in the league right now. Its been awhile since you could make either of those statements. Lunqvist is clearly in the same stratosphere. Biron is better than most starters in the league...not sure how that takes away from Lundqvists credibility...but look at the advanced stats if you are questioning how good this guy is. He is making the tough saves from prime scoring chances regularly. If you really believe he's not top 3 in the league you either aren't watching the games or are in total denial. It's likely he will regress...but if he sustains current levelofplay, not sure how he doesnt walk away with the Vezina. Dude has stolen games throughout the season. Tim Thomas is not even the best goalie on his own team and he's on the decline. Henrik is having the best season of his career. Rinne, Elliott, Quick, Rask and Henrik...none of them are average. Steve Mason? Shouldnt even be having this conversation.
The best part about the Rangers success is that it wasnt expected for another year. Krieder, McIllrath, Thomas, Erixon all at least a year, if not two away. Krieder is going to be the power forward they have not had in years and McIllrath the crease clearer missing since Beukeboom. The D is only going to mature and get better as it gets older and with the expiring contracts...Avery, Christensen, Wolski, Drury's hit...Fedotenko, We are going to have more cap room next year. If healthy, the Rangers are going to be better next year than they are this year...likely the next two years, at least. I will not be surprised if they make a run at Bobby Ryan before the deadline. Sather thought the deal was done in early December. I dont know why it fell through but he was speaking as if it had already happened. This was right before the Sauer concussion...so possibly Mike was part of the deal at the time. Add Bobby Ryan...subtract Dubinsky, Sauer and a prospect/pick...maintain a healthy Marc Staal and Yes, ths is very likely the best team in the league. They are shutting teams down with girardi and mcD...Staal is better than both of them. If they stay healthy, this team is only going to improve.
