Exchamp you will be the first person I let know if I win.
I can understand why Malkin is picking the ties (shootouts) because it is the best way to get a good payout with minimum outlay. With the Canadian lotteries, the problem to me is you really can't play the money line without hedging. For example, Detroit plays at Boston tomorrow and Boston is favored by 0.5 on the point spread menu or 1.80 on the oddset menu. So if you pick Boston, you have to win the game in regulation or overtime. You could hedge your Boston play by playing another ticket as a "tie". But now you run into the problem of having to parlay at least 2 games. If you parlay 2 games and manage to get them right, you still only double your money. So a $20 bet would be a $40 winning ticket, or $20 profit. This is why the vast majority of people lose money, especially when they start doing 4 and 5 and even 6 game parlays just to increase the potential payout. It really is a big-time government scam. Sure, you can win some decent cash from time to time by picking the ties in MLB, NHL, CBB, but I think over the long haul it is not sustainable and you will eventually lose. It's not unlike playing the slots at the casino - if you keep playing, you will lose. The odds are stacked against you. For every guy who profits a little bit over the course of a month, I'd guess about 500 others lose money. The government has a good thing going here, but for a lot of Canadian bettors, they don't have many other options so they keep on playing ... and losing. Malkin, I do not doubt you are winning some dough, but you are in the minority for sure. I would recommend getting an online account and give yourselves a chance to win on a sustainable basis. If you still wish to play some ties, you still have that option. That's just my 2 cents for what it is worth. Good luck to all cappers on both sides of the border.
