Afternoon gents, a nice slate of NBA action tonight.Split yesterday with the Blazers and
Kings.Excellent all around game by
Portland, Wallace was key with his defense on Durant, as suspected, the absence of Thabo is a
lot more detrimental to the Thunder than anyone really understands.Harden is a starter in this league, but it is
imperative he continues coming off the OKC bench until they can manage to
obtain another scorer to provide 2nd unit scoring.Aldridge did his work and continues to be one of the most underrated offensive post players in the NBA.I truly hope
Portland keeps winning and he gets the recognition he deserves with an all-star
spot selected by the coaches.Mike Conley
playing for the Griz kind of ruined things for a 2-0 night, on top of that Sam Young gets
massive minutes when I thought he was lost on the Griz bench and out of coach Hollins rotation. The news today of Zach Randolph forced the
Griz to make a long-awaited move for another power forward, they kept on going
for small forwards to fill the backup 4 spot but Cunningham and Pondextor are not
guys who can handle a legitimate “power” forward in this game.Sending away a raw untested talent like Xavier Henry
may come back to bite them in the ass about 3-5 years down the road, but acquiring
Speights from Philly was an excellent move and a much needed one.Tonight I actually wanted to play quite a bit
more than I am, may decide to add some of the leans as plays but will confirm
it closer to game time.So far I have
two I will be going with for sure, most likely by the end of the night it will
be closer to 4 picks total. As always
gentlemen, I wish you nothing but the best of luck with your wagers.Kwaheri from Kenya - - - MAK

CELTICS
PLAY: CELTICS – 13.0 -110
& CELTICS 1ST HALF – 6.5 -110 (4 UNITS FULL GAME & 2 UNITS HALF)
You will very rarely see me play a double digit spread in
the NBA, I absolutely despise putting my bankroll on double digit home spreads
for obvious reasons.However, when you
remove the 2 best players from the worst team in the national basketball
association....what do you have?Opportunity. This is one opportunity I cannot pass up
on.The New Jersey Nets are just not
capable of keeping up with any team in the NBA without DMW and Kris
Kardashian.Forget the fact that this is
the Boston Celtics, even if the Nets were facing a mediocre team I would still
hit it up against them for a few units. With a full line-up, the Celtics are more than capable of not only being
up by 20 going into the 4th, but with the recent confidence instilled in their
young big man Greg Stiemsma, they will have enough to hold off the back door
cover. We all know who the Celtics
starters are, Rondo, Jesus, Truth, KG & J.O will dominate the Nets roster
in limited minutes.I am in no way
impressed with the Boston role players, but Bass and Stiemsma will be a load
down low for even the starting 4 and 5 for the Nets. Daniels and Dooling
may be able to put up some productive numbers if given an opportunity in terms
of minutes, especially against the sub-par backup backcourt that the Nets
have. There is still a chance at the
backdoor cover late in the 4th as I seriously doubt Doc Rivers will
play any of his starters in the 4th quarter, whereas the Nets may
play whoever has the hot hand. This is
always at the back of my mind when playing large spreads, I hate doing it and
won’t do it often even if this hits, but this is one opportunity I will not
pass up on.

The best bench in the NBA continues its prowl in New Orleans
tonight.I just love Doug Collins, I
think he is one of the greatest minds in the NBA.He was always my favourite announcer, I just
loved when he basically mapped out a last second play to the tee and we were
able to witness exactly what he stated happen in front of our eyes.I used to call him Doug “DeLorean” Collins
because he always went back to the future with his play calls. He is an astonishingly good coach, some of
his set plays are just immensely fun to watch.Next time you watch a 76ers game in full, when they are about to run a 1/4
or 2/4 pick and roll, just keep an eye on the other offensive players around
the floor, their movement and cuts are pre-planned and created by Collins. It is like watching the ballet, flawless
movement (and no Mak does not watch the ballet so hold your jokes please) Very rarely do the 76ers run a play more than 3 times, he is an absolute magician with a
playbook. What I also love about the
76ers coaching staff, is the fact that they know how to run and execute a proper NBA
rotation.I understand that this year strategy
has to be implemented to ensure players don’t get too fatigued with the
rigors of this 66 game schedule, but the luxury Doug Collins has is that his
team is very athletic, in excellent shape and very young. The 76ers run an 8 man rotation. It is an extremely solid 8 man rotation. The key to their success is their bench which
led the NBA in scoring last year and will do so again this year.Lou Williams, T Young and Evan Turner are the
reason the 76ers will continue to succeed this year. They are offensively potent as any 1,2,3 spot
you can name in the NBA, starting or off the bench.Their combination is a deadly one because no
NBA team can really spot up and match their production in terms of a 2nd
unit, so when an opposing team’s starters get tired, they do the correct thing
and substitute, the problem is, the 76ers also substitute and basically end up
with an even more potent offensive lineup then their starters. This causes opposing teams a lot of problems
and tonight the Hornets will really find it difficult to matchup. The fact of the matter is, the Hornets do not
have any bench players who are serviceable at the 1,2 or 3 spot. They basically have Chris Kaman and Smith
tonight. If Ariza does not play, Aminu
will start, that is unless Gordon plays then I would think New Orleans may
start Marco at the 3.Either way, at
every position, the Hornets are over-matched.The one thing I liked about New Orleans coming into this season was
their combination of Okafor and Kaman, tonight they will have to handle an
ever-rising legit 5 man in Spencer Hawes.Hawes is putting up sensational numbers this season.13 pts almost 13 boards a game with 4 assists
and about 2 swats a game on average, simply phenomenal numbers.Despite not having a lot of backup size,
Philly manages to force opposing teams to play small ball with Young at the
4.This would cause Aminu to step up and
play the power forward spot since Okafor or Smith will not be able to handle
Young’s quickness.Tonight look for Lou,
Turner and Young to have a combined output of 50 or more.Iggy will close in on a triple-double and
Holiday will go toe-to-toe with Jack all game. This is Philly’s game to lose and I just don’t see them dropping this
game straight up.It’s gonna be a bit
too easy in The Big Easy tonight.Philly
covers.

Totally agree with you. Sixers are fun to watch. After that horrendous 3-13 start last year they played better than most playoff teams.
Coach "Delorean Collins' >>>
For sure PR I had actually forgotten about that, thanks for the reminder, sometimes with everything that has happened for me in the past year, the beginning of last season seems like an eternity for me so I always appreciate little tidbits like this as a refresher.
The thing about Collins system is it is a pretty complicated and diverse system, especially his offensive sets, it took Philly quite some time to adjust, once they bought in to the system, it clicked right away. This year will be much different, their youth combined with their comfort with the system, makes this team a playoff team in my opinion and not only that, if I were any of the top 4 teams in the East, I would not want to face the 76ers in a 7 game series. Good luck today with your picks bud.

Incredible write ups as always Best of luck today buddy
I always always appreciate hearing that my German friend. Even if I hear it 100 times this season I would never get tired of hearing that. Really do appreciate it, thanks very much and good luck with your picks today.

I knew you'd be on the Celtics! As soon as i saw that line and with Deron out, i jumped on it too. BOL buddy
Really Paradox? With my Celtics season preview, I thought nobody would think I was on the Celts. With the lack of depth the Celtics have, I never thought I would ever back them as double digit faves. I just had to due to the fact that Kris and Deron were both out. This of course is a bad strategy in the NBA from past years, it always seems as though teams tend to cover spreads when they are missing their star players. Nevertheless, I just don't think NJ has enough talent to offset the loss of their two best players. Good luck to us bro.

Mak,what do you think about the NJN v BOS total? I was looking at either Under 180.5 (lost some value) or NJN Under 84.5
GL tonight buddy
Swoop you know me, I am not very confident in my ability to cap totals in the NBA. I do so very rarely. If I were to give you my honest opinion, I would actually go with the team total over the game total. 84.5 is a decent number and I would lean under. Boston's defense isn't the same as it has been the past years, but the role players Daniels and Dooling with Greg and Bass are actually quite capable defensively, if those 4 guys play over 20 minutes each, NJ still may not hit the 84 mark, it will be really close though in my opinion. Best of luck whichever way you roll.

According to thespread.com Boston is 78% public play. Should this be a cause of concern? Besides Celtics could possibly play down to competition dont you think?

I totally agree. The Nets are Deron. I simply don't seem them keeping this close without him and to make things worse, they're without Kris too. If Rondo decides to attack the basket, the Nets won't be able to do jack shit. That, and the fact that Allen is on fire made me jump on this.
