Afternoon fellas, huge unit swing for me yesterday due to two lackluster 4th quarters by the Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks. Dwayne Wade shooting 23% for the game was a killer, hard to cap NBA games when star players like Kobe and Wade can shoot so poorly, difficult to ascertain when the right time is to foresee those type of events. The Bucks were just disappointing, the scheduling spot combined with the absence of Nene should have been more than enough to carry them to a cover an victory, both the Heat and Bucks collapsed in the 4th quarter. Lucky to have gotten the push on the Bucks spread and minimize the loss of units for Monday, however it still stings. Nevertheless, had to try to take advantage of the situational aspects of that game and will continue to try to take advantage of spots like that in the future. Got two road dogs barking tonight, got the lines a bit early, lost out on one due to line movement but got a good price on the other prior to the news of Cousins. As always gents, I wish you all the best of luck. Kwaheri from Kenya - - - MAK
MAK'S 2012 SEASON PREVIEWS & PROJECTIONS
PORTLAND TRAIL-BLAZERS @ OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER
PLAY: BLAZERS + 5 -120
OKC will be playing their 5th game in 7 nights. They will be facing a rested squad after their tough loss last night in Texas. Historically they have been quite good coming off a loss, especially when playing at home, however, they will be facing a gritty defensive squad with a lot of half-court options. In my opinion this game will be played to adhere to Portland's style of play. The half-court game will be in full effect tonight. Aldridge is one of the premier low post options in the NBA and he will be going up against an excellent low block defensive player in Ibaka. The problem is, Ibaka played over 40 minutes last night and has never really been able to check Big L on the low block as well as he does other power forwards in the game. Last time Big L faced off against the African fly swatter, Aldridge went off going 14-26 from the field. Tonight he will be the main offensive threat for the Blazers. Joining him in the front-court are Camby and Gerald Wallace. Camby is an above par rebounder and defensive big man that should contain penetration from Harden and Westbrook. No one in the NBA can contain Kevin Durant who in my opinion is the best overall offensive player in the NBA, however Gerald Wallace has by far been the one player who has managed to contain him and sometimes even overshadow him offensively. His ability to frustrate Kevin with his physicality and speed has allowed Gerald to actually have a 40 point game against him last year. In their only two meetings against each other last year, Durant went a dismal 14 of 42 from the field. The plastic man will be able to contain Durant tonight who also played a 40 minute game in Dallas. Felton and Matthews have been inconsistent offensively this year, if they can somehow manage to score for the Blazers, Portland may win this one straight up. If Thabo does not suit up tonight, with Cook also out, it will force Harden into the starting lineup which Scott Brooks does not like doing since it negates any offensive production from the bench. This will prove to be detrimental tonight especially with two gunners off the Portland bench. Crawford and Batum are key to the cover tonight, with no real offensive threat off the OKC bench, Batum and Crawford will prove to be too much for OKC's bench to keep up with. Collison is a beast defensively but so is old man river Kurt Thomas, the two should offset each other tonight. Both squads coming off tough losses, but Portland is well rested and they have the depth to take care of the Thunder in OKC. 5 UNITS CLYDE "THE GLIDE" DREXLER - - -
SACRAMENTO KINGS @ MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES
PLAY: KINGS + 8.0 -120
What scares me most about this game is the absolute thrashing the Griz received from the Bulls in their last game. Players and coaches called it as embarrassing as it gets. What persuaded me back the Kings on the road (which I never thought I would do) is the sheer fact that determination and pride cannot offset the lack of skill. Without two of their starters, I just don't think the Grizzlies have the depth to cover this spread. Conley and Zach will both be out tonight which means Pargo and most likely either Pondextor or Cunningham will start. Zach and Mike are two key offensive players for the Griz, without them I don't see how the Griz can offensively keep up with Sacramento. The Kings have a very potent back-court. Evans and Thornton could actually single-handedly outscore the Memphis starters. They have the ability to go off for 50 combined on any given night. John Salmons will have the pleasure of guarding a pissed off Rudy Gay. Gay was putrid last game going for 2 of 12 from the field, I look for Gay to really be aggressive tonight and take the Griz on his back. Gasol and most likely Pondextor will have to face off against two big talented front-court players in Hayes and Cousins. It will be very difficult for them to keep up on the defensive and offensive boards against two monsters tonight. Off the bench the Griz have Mayo, Cunningham and some no name serviceable players. The Kings will counter with Hickson, Thompson, Jimmer, Outlaw and Garcia. I really think the depth will come into play tonight. Memphis is a very talented ball club, but that is only when they are at full strength with their confidence high. Right now their confidence is in shambles as is their starting 5. I actually think Sacto has a good chance to take this straight up. Catching these points is a gift. 5 UNITS VLADE "SHOWTIME" DIVAC - - -

Thanks for the analysis Mak and as always, appreciate the knowledge you bring to the forum. I have already locked in Portland as well simply based on their defense and OKC has played a lot of games over the last week. I agree with you in that I think Aldridge will have a big game again as he should dominate down low. I anticipate a lower scoring game and I think that will help us in getting the cover.
Did not play the Kings yet but your analysis is very convincing. I just see this being a game where the Kings are behind on average around 10 points and it comes down to the last few minutes to see if they can get the cover.

I like them both Mak. Let's get back on track. NBA has been tough so far this season. I believe I'm turning the corner. Big day in the NBA for me yesterday. Good to have you back for 12'

you got it prior to the news on Cousins? you bet it prior to new years? cus he was benched and told not to show jan 1 after demanding a trade
Efro, ever think that perhaps the news about Cousins that mak was referring to was the news released six hours ago that he will dress tonight, likely play, but not start? Wouldn't that make more sense?

Good luck and let's cashem' tonight
Appreciate the appreciation my friend. You make a good point about anticipating a lower pace and how that might help the Portland cover. Best of luck today.

+5 -120? Mak, thats terrible odds....+5 is @-103...pinnacle, betfair, matchbook...
what bookie is raping you???
BOL my man
Skillz good to see you again bud, you are correct I am getting raped big time by my books who are charging me an extra 10 to purchase the hook when last year because of the amount I had they only charged me 5. At the time of placing the bet Portland was +4.5 and as you know I always buy the hook on .5 spreads. BOL to you as well tonight.

My main man KP, you always appreciate my nicknames :)
You are correct it was a shameful performance by the Bucks but you and I are used to the Bucks shitting on us when we depend on them the most. It was good to see Mbah a Moute back and getting some decent minutes. He played a good defensive game. Best of luck with your wagers tonight brother.

Man you are such a dumb ass!! This is now the third time you have come into my thread and spewed this kind of unsolicited douchebaggery.
Luckily my brother from another mother Kapono made you look like the idiot that you are in the post below you. Don't you think you should actually keep up with the NBA and the news around the league before you post this kind of shit on my thread? Third time is the charm bro, next time hopefully you won't make such an ass out of yourself.

I really appreciate this Kap, this is the third time this idiot has come to me with undeserved hatred so it pissed me off more than it should have. Plus it was really moronic for him to think I was referring to news that was about 4 days old. Appreciate the assistance bro.
