Canucks should rally to show support for their fearless leader who went to war for them. If they like/respect Torts at all over there then they should try to minimize the damage caused by the incident and win some games. That way the retard move could be looked at as a turning point in the season. If they lose the majority of those 6 games he misses the media will never stop pointing to it as the reason they are low in the standings. If they are 6 games behind first they will say it cost home ice advantage and god forbid they miss the playoffs by less then 6 games because it would be boiled down to those 5 min in the hallway. There is only one way to avoid all those "what if" questions nobody in Vancouver wants to answer all season and that's winning. The real good news is that outside of a game with the Hawks the next 6 are good match ups. We all know the Canucks struggle with the top west teams so their recent losing streak is no huge surprise (too bad it suggests a first rd KO com playoffs), but for years now they've relied on the results from the rest of the league games to make up for it.
Of course they are playing against a team who has had some recent wins at home and against top tier teams. The bad news for them is they have 4 losses in between their last win and this game. Outside of Scrivens being some kind of super human and growing a couple extra arms and legs I think they'll really struggle get puck control and zone time. Eakins knows Scrivens really well from Marlie days so maybe he knows something we don't.
I also notice that all the wins the Oilers have over the Canucks are befor Eakins was behind the bench.
Taking the Canucks ML because they left some juice in this line. Maybe there is a stat out there about teams losing their first game after coach suspension but I haven't found it.

Sorry but how will a stat; in case you find some; will be any help 'for teams losing their first game after coach suspension' ???
Every team reacts differenty in these kind of situationas. Ok you can make the ASSUMPTION that allmost any team will be fired up to play hard for their coach because he got suspended These kind of situations/ spots tend to be rather emotional/ motivational for a team spirit and I CANNOT see how any stat can or will quantify this. But each to their own.

The matchup is Luongo for Vancouver versus Edmonton's Scrivens.
Henrik Sedin isn't expected to play tonight versus Edmonton due to an undisclosed injury; this would mean his game played streak of 679 games would come to an end. Always fun to watch both Sedin brothers together on the ice.

one sedin out and in Edmonton...where edm tends to play well as they can...oilers can see blood ...and will pounce ...or at least attempt to ...I say oilers 3-2 in shootout
