That's a more fair assessment of Lee's signing. Good point.

You see a Rangers pitcher in that spot and he'll keep going until he shows fatigue. That's what I love about Nolan Ryan.

Sparky10191- You have certainly thought more about this than me. I agree 80 million is too much. Ryan doesn't baby his pitchers, but if Texas invested that kind of dollar amount in CJ then that philosophy which you and I both love is probably a thing of the past for Wilson.
Texas' pitching has improved so much over the last few seasons that it's hard to nail down which players have made the difference. Then again, maybe it isn't players so much as it is the new ownership and coaches. With two World Series appearances, obviously somebody has gotten things going in a new and positive direction. Wilson has been a prime example. It would be a shame for the club to lose its ace, but the Ranger do have lots of young prospects.
I remember being of the opinion that Wilson to the rotation was a dumb
move. It turned out to be a great move. Feliz to the rotation seems like
a dumb move also. The more I think about it though, it wouldn't surprise me at all to be wrong about that as well.
Texas has what it takes to win it all currently in place for the most part, imo. Re-upping Mike Gonzalez or looking at George Sherrill might prove beneficial. Find another set up man from somewhere perhaps, but the team already there is very solid.

Yeah and CJ is a big douche. He is way too cocky and rubs people the wrong way. I think he is good dont get me wrong. He had a sub 3 era as a Texas pitcher. That is strong. But what he is asking for just proves what kind of person he is. I would give him 5-6 for 70-80mil. Just my opinion. Go get Buerhle and Nathan/Bell for much less money and you dont lose anything.
I am not saying CJ is not good but he doesnt have any guts at all. I think Holland will have better numbers over the next 5-6 years.

Now sounds like we are making a run at Prince, Oswalt, and Buerhle but apparantly also Joe Nathan and Heath Bell. IF Feliz becomes a starter you will need a setup man or closer to go with Adams.

Smart move by Rangers offering CJ arbitration. This is why we have the best farm system in the country. 1st round pick and a pick between 1st and 2nd round when CJ signs else where

From what I hear the Rangers have bid on YU rights. Looking to add Oswalt soon and are in serious talks with Prince. I think the Angles have forced their hand with Prince. I also think they will not re-sign Nellie and JOsh. There price will be too high for 2 injury prone outfielder. Maybe one or other. I also will be interested in seeing what the do with Andrus as they have maybe the best minor league shortstops in the country in their system
