The O's have been the surprise team this season and there looks to be no let up in sight either as they come into this series having won five of their last six games overall. They have won 13 of their last 19 games against a very tough group of teams having just played the Yankees, Red Sox, Rangers, Rays, Royals and Nationals in those games. Baltimore expected to have a decent offense going into this season but it's been their pitching that has really surprised most folks and today's starter Tommy Hunter is one of those guys. The O's have won five Hunter's last six home starts and nine of his last eleven trips to the hill overall. Even more impressive than that is the fact is they are an undefeated 5-0 with Hunter on the hill against the American League East the last five times he has went against them.
Boston has quietly fought back from a shaky start to close within a game now of .500 for the season. Though they have got back to respectability and done so in a very quick time, it's had more to do with Boston beating the bad teams than the good ones of late. The Red Sox are just 3-8 their last 11 contests against teams with a winning mark on the season. One big problem for the Red Sox has been the pitching from their starting staff including today's guy on the hill, Clay Buchholz. Though they have found ways to win with Buchholz on the mound, it still doesn't take away from the fact of how poorly he has pitched for them this season. Buchholz comes in with an ERA in the upper 7.00 range in 44 innings of work so far this season and hitters are getting on base at almost a 42% clip versus him in 2012.
No way a guy pitching this poorly should be favored on the road versus a team with the best record in the American League. Take Baltimore here in this one. We head into another week of NBA playoff action with games on tap for most of this week. I have some strong opinions of a lot of these contests that are still going on, much more so than I did in the first round match-ups in these playoffs. Jump on board and let me guide you through these very tight lines being put up by the lines makers this time of the year
