I've been to three Alabama/LSU games in Baton Rouge. In all three of them I've gone with a friend who is a 'Bama fan and wears 'Bama gear and I usually represent the Orange of Vol Nation. I've NEVER had a dispute with any LSU fan and in fact have always been greeted with hospitality and charm. In one instance my bourbon was confiscated at the gate but the local fans made sure that I got as much to drink as I wanted. |

Posted: 4/26/2012 6:12:52 AM Then the times I have been there they must despise Gator fans to a whole new level, they were committing crimes and trying to beat up all UF fans the whole day and night. I saw an old woman get pushed down on the ground walking to the stadium for being a Florida fan, it was embarrassing for their fans and they absolutely trashed the campus. |

I will probably play LSU but either way I'm not one of those fans that sport colors.
Looking for info on hotels and tailgating situation. Any help is much appreciated. |

Here since you can't make sense of a country quote how about "Your Hilarious" talking about how i should wear a Florida jersey to an LSU game in Baton Rouge and i would get beat up.
First off i would rather garbage and fall backwards into it before ever wearing a Florida Gator football jersey.
You was wrong giving somebody BS information when they was asking help about an enjoyable trip to watch an LSU game. You can't tell me LSU fans beat up an old lady because she was a Florida fan.
I don't like LSU but to put a bullshit rap on their fans is wrong, i have been to games and LSU fans has always showed me respect, in Baton Rouge and in Tuscaloosa.
Remember last football season when you told people Alabama fans spit on people and threw stuff at them. Damn it... jwwheels is every fan fucked up except Florida fans.
He can stay in N.O. and drive to the game and enjoy the french quarter, before and after the game and have one of the best times of his life. While he is there he can go to Harrahs Casino, as a matter of fact he should book his room at Harrahs.
Theres no way you played for Alabama you could have been a male cheerleader though.

Everybody despises UF fans, I'm surprised that you didn't know that. |

Posted: 5/2/2012 4:27:45 AM IF you never been to New Orleans there is something to be said for staying in NOLA till game dame. Me I like to get on campus early. Whether that be morgantown, tuscalooser, Tuscan, etc... I like to feel the game day environment. Baton Rouge is really easily to fly into, getting around is hard. There are plenty of restaurants and depending on what your looking for there is something for every budget. I would say, stay close to campus and hit all the places everyone else goes to. Tailgating, stay close to the stadium and just walk up and introduce yourself. People there want to prove they tailgate the best and will bend over backwards to prove that to strangers. IF you dont like the first group you meet the next group is 10 feet away. Its hard to walk 100 yards and not find yourself not wanting to leave. Been there with lots of outsiders, and they all say its very easy to mingle amongst the crowd. |

Posted: 5/4/2012 1:47:42 PM JP beat me to most of this.
I typically stay in NOLA, but am lucky enough to be able to stay at the team hotel on campus if I want. BR isn't exactly a thrill-ride, and places get crowded and congested. You're probably better served to drive over from NOLA on game day. Just don't hit it too hard the night before. You can probably walk in to just about any non-student tailgate.
Unless you're astoundngly unlucky, or a complete jackass, nobody is going to bother you no matter who you're supporting. |

I have to agree with Lucan here. I have been to dozens and dozens of LSU games through my 41 years. Two years ago, a month after we hosted West Virginia in Baton Rouge, I received an awesome email from a West Virginia fan that we met tailgating before the game and he was amazed at how friendly everyone was to him and his friends. Sure there may be a few fool here and there(as there is at every place) but we always have a great time with the opposing fans at Tiger stadium, feeding them and drinking with them. I am not saying you are lying but from everything I have witnessed, LSU fans are some of the most generous folks to tailgate with. Southern hospitality at its best. I have been to Bama, Florida, and just about every SEC venue. I never had a problem anywhere although sometimes young punks try to ruin it for everyone. Sorry you had a bad experiance but I am sure that was an isolated incident. I actually was disappointed when I got a chance to tailgate at Buckeyes stadium. Fans were bad they just seemed indifferent and not as friendly as fans in the south. Just my 2 cents.

I have been around them many other times and games over the years and they were always fine but the one game I went to there, for whatever reason and it was the record crowd at the time. The Location I was in I saw the away fans being treated horribly at every turn like never before, unless it was some kind of magical coincidence that day.. every bad fan out there showed up in front of my tailgate. |
