Who will be coaching the Horns this weekend? Can't believe the AD and Trustees don't do something before Mack flies this program all the way into the ground. He gets paid over $5MM to take 20 elite athletes every recruiting year and let them get curb-stomped by the same Mormons that lost to Virginny blue bloods? Ole Miss hasn't got much, but I can't bet on Texas again after the past few years of disasters. An interim coach would help this team, something is wrong and Mack isn't the guy to fix it.

Lots of drama in Austin. This game is a no play because who in the hell knows what is going to happen. I'm done betting on Texas or against them. Mack is going to have to move out of state after he gets fired. BYU ran it down their throats, it is one thing to lose when a pro quality QB beats you but quite another when they tear off long runs like BYU did.

Agree with Lordzud, totally off this game. Mack needs to be fired ASAP. He has not got what it takes anymore. Thanks for some great past bets Mack, but your day is done.

So seems taking the points would be the play .... I mean based on the prior post(seems some have a handle on longhorn issues) and the drumming texas took at the hands of a subpar byu ...Seriously laying off seems to point to a possible turn around for longhorns ?

I'm just gonna warn you guys something I know very well being close to the Texas program for 2 decades and all of Mack's years...Texas responds unbelievable when they get their teeth kicked in and completely embarrassed. Trust me, OU has made us look like a completely inept football team several years and the next week you saw an entirely different Texas team and attitude.
Mack has an incredible gift for getting completely blasted in a game he should never lose THAT bad, and then rallying his players to show up completely the opposite next week. Be very careful with this one. If you are taking the points, make sure you're getting over a FG.
You will not see the same Texas team as BYU, not even close, guaranteed. Not because of any defensive coaching changes or any of that garbage. It boils down to the players have an entitled attitude that allows them to be crushed by a team that surprised them with being capable and wanted it way more.
Once that entitled attitude is crapped on in front of everyone, it dissolves and they get down to business. The team is loaded with athletes I assure you and are as good as last year no doubt. When they apply the max effort, it'll be powerful. Just a fair warning, expect night and day from what you saw.
Oh yeah, with ONE HUGE EXCEPTION. If Ash is out and Case McCoy starts, screw the points and load up on the Rebels. He doesn't have the arm needed to be consistent and beat a good team.

Texas reminds me of betting Wvirg last year. You go...no way can they find new ways to screw up every week, but they do. Line looks like Texas rebounds...giving pts to ranked team, etc. They wont. However later in the season theyll prolly beat somebody theyre not supposed too.

Hugh Freeze is putting together a nice coaching career. He wins wherever he goes...Last year left a bad taste all over Miss. Don't be so fast to jump on TX as these two teams are not the same teams as of the past. Take the points in a Mississippi victory.

The same could be said for any team with superior athletes that get embarrassed so I agree with you echelon. I believe that motivational edge, the home field support group, and Ole Miss being a mediocre team that struggled with an average Vandy team will lead to a Horns win. But that will not carry them through the season, Mack Brown is a nice guy but a bad football coach. He has taken elite athletes, top flight facilities and mega bucks and given the Texas fans crap in return (don't give me the Rose Bowl example, that wasn't him....it was Vince young doing for him the same as Cam did for Chizik.) Don't understand why the Texas faithful have given him so much rope.
Texas covers the 3 points 3 unit play for me

Finally, it is time to play Texas ( no more than -3).
From reading this thread and looking at various consensus sites, it appears that Ole Miss is very much a team that everyone loves this week. Here are a few reasons to disagree.
1. Texas was humiliated last week on national TV. D coach fired and the media pounding them daily. Nothing like a little negative media attention to awaken a group of spoiled but talented college jocks. I look for a big effort from the Horns and I look for their superior talent to finally do what everyone THOUGHT they would do at BYU.
2. Ole Miss is becoming a glamour team, mainly on the results of pre season hype. Freeze is a good coach but they are not even close to Texas in this area. When Texas plays to their talent (admittedly very rarely), they can blow out most teams by a wide margin.
3. Revenge from last year - maybe this would apply if Texas was looking ahead or coming off a big win. But not this weekend. Texas will be 100% focused on Ole Miss.
4. If Texas loses this game, the season unravels and they become totally unplayable the rest of the year. I rarely play on this team because they are usually very much a public team. The time to bet a public team is when everyone else hate their guts. This is one of those rare moments.

It's official...ASH IS OUT. Take Ole Miss on the money line, thank me later. You can't completely fix an absurd run defense in a week. Texas with Ash would have had a 50/50 shot with upgraded defensive play to outscore Ole Miss. The team will still play much better and run the ball until their feet bleed, but will still surrender 30 points.
Case McCoy is simply a different story. He can keep you in a close game with both offenses only having mild success. Yet he doesn't not have the arm strength or accuracy to make all the throws needed to win a high scoring battle. Very inconsistent beyond 15 yards.
Texas plays better and fights honorably for Mack, but defense isn't solid enough even with improvement to hold down Ole Miss enough for Case to win. Ole Miss wins by 7-10. This coming from a honest Longhorn who hasn't joined most of our fans in the bashfest of our program. Just calling it like it is after seeing ever snap Case has ever played, and knowing our safety-less defense also has a ghost of a middle LB. The middle of the defense is absurdly friendly territory to any opponent. Ole Miss has seen the tape and circled the extreme weak links to expose.

combat - you are probably right. case McCoy has come through for us at times in the past (ie 2011 A&M). However, with ole miss improved this year, I just could not pull the trigger, mack's administration is a train wreck. this will be a desperation win for texas. if ole miss executes with their advantage at QB, I think they will win. but, no play for me. I will be rooting for my horns. GL to you.

[/Quote
Lots of drama in Austin. This game is a no play because who in the hell knows what is going to happen. I'm done betting on Texas or against them. I'm a season tix holder....let me explain better......Mack sux azz but brings in too much $$$$$$$$$ to University....the AD is supposed to retire so Mack can take over....That's why our D's coach fled for Florida's head job......Just heard that Mack needs 16 games to become the UTs all time winnest coach.....we have ND and USC in coming years on the schedule which he wants to coach.....that will sux....Mack was on chopping block cuz we couldn't be OU but VY saved Mack's azz for couple more years.....By all means......MACK NEEDS TO GO
