Capitalism, as you state, is unsustainable IMO longterm.  The rich get richer, poor get poorer, until the balance gets too wide - and it gets reset usually through violence of the masses.  I do not believe that individuals will take it upon themselves to keep things equal, I do believe that it takes a govt to do that.  I believe in higher taxes, better education, free and equal healthcare for all, and equal playing fields for things like jobs.  Is it surprising that the happiest people year after year are in the scandinavian countries - where you have 50%+ taxes but everyone values life?  Not to me.

I am not a sports fan.  I dont have favorite teams.  I cant understand (really literally cant understand) how people pay money to support their favorite team.  The only way I understand it is if it is for family bonding once in a while like a father and son - but a season ticket to the Knicks that cost 40 grand?  Huh?  I dont get who buys the jackets and jerseys, I just dont get it all.  I realize that it is supply and demand, so I understand why athletes get paid what they do, but I cannot comprehend the guy who makes 50K a year who has season tickets to the Cowboys and then calls them "we" when referring to anything about them.  There is no we in sports.  We didnt win the super bowl.  Anyone with a paycheck that says green bay packers won the super bowl, "we" didnt.

Without the "we" there would be no sports... no?

vanzack, thank you for your sincerity in answering a multitude of questions from this, our den of degenerates here at covers, and thank you superbeets for the great idea to create this thread. Van, I've always appreciated your cerebral approach to the business of betting and I agree with most all of which you profess. Because of your meticulous habits with betting, I suspect you're very similar in the other 'details' of your life, so my question deals not with betting but something else...

Given your seeming thoughtfulness, self-love(that's a good thing), and love for the world around you, are you aware of Stratospheric Aerosol Engineering(SAG)? It is a serious issue that affects every living being on earth and I think it's right up your alley. Its deployment has been linked to a decline in the production of organics and a myriad of human health issues.

Much like your discovery of the atrocities sustained by the dolphins in Taiji moved you to action, I hope the same action can be put forth upon your discovery of the issue of "chemtrails" or "persistent contrails." Here is a link to a documentary on the subject: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf0khstYDLA

The producers of the film ask simple questions and receive answers from some qualified and credible scientists... Sounds like you may have a little extra time on your hands these days, will you watch it?

Defiantly Buffett. You take all of his money away, and he will be rich in no time, because of his superior financial intellect. Not that Gates is stupid, but Buffett is on another level.

What does your wife do for a living?

I know you said you dont bet on college bball, just curious if you speculated during March Madness?

There is really a tremendous amount of knowledge to be gained from this thread, and it should be stuck to the top of the general discussion forum for quite some time.

Thank you, Van, for taking the time.

Doesn't really offer any "new" info....just know that its been around for awhile and alot of old-timers use it...bought 2 issues this year for the NFL and was surprised how good these guys were. Great at predicting scores...proven record every year with very high winning percentages....release 1 or 2 big NFL plays every week that rarely miss.

Was just wondering if you ever bought it. I'm always looking for new ways to "fine-tune" my gambling.

thanks for answering questions

Van:

1. What do you think "really happened" on 9/11?

2. Do you listen to any podcasts? If so, which one? If none, I'd recommend the Joe Rogan podcast -- he's actually very, very smart and his show has interesting theoretical/philosophical discussions.

3. Are you into MMA at all?

free and equal health care for all?  Ask the Canadians how that works out... waiting 3 months to see a doctor for a sore throat   Sounds all good and jolly free and equal health care for all...  We live in a society where people who have a headache think they have a brain tumor... you would need a hospital on every street corner if every us citizen had free and equal health care... lets not forget the amount of doctors u would need... it would be a disaster

Van,

In the event that you take your hiatus, what do you see as other possible avenues for investing? Are you already invested in other ventures? If so, what, and is gambling by far your most profitable?

Thanks

1. When you first started gambling was it your intention to "hit winners" (say hit 55% for the year to hit your goals) or did you come into it with the mindset of "squeezing pennies" and grinding it out? If you started with the first strategy when did you switch to the second?

2. In your first few years in the profession what were your betting amounts relative to today? Say if you made an average sized wager on the Steelers +3 and kept it without selling etc, what $ figure would you have on that wager?

3. Just how important is reducing the juice? I have read many of your threads and I am certain I know the answer to that question but in terms of importance would it be #1 Reducing the juice and a large gap between that and the next most important thing?

4. If you could go back in time and meet the young vanzack just as he was embarking on his betting career what are 3 things you would say to him?

I'll answer # 4....

1)  DON'T EVER try to bullshit... bullshitters... they can see right through it.

2) DON'T EVER tell a lie in a gambling forum (like owning a yacht)... once you tell a lie... the rest of your life story will be hard to believe.

3) DON'T EVER try to bullshit... the bullshitters... they can see right through it.

He sure did !!

And... he gets props for letting us know he truly does not own a yacht and has never slept with a supermodel.

I wonder if there are any other "holes" in his story?  Just saying...

But non the less... he does get props for answering all the questions and spending so much time on them. Hell... If I had his money and knowledge... this is the last thing I would be doing!

Id be on my yacht with my supermodels.
