"It's a great deal.  The best deal ever made, the Chinese are my favorite people.  Great food there, great hotels.  I love my Chinese electronics let me tell you.  Me and Kim Jong have been playing video games all week, he's great at them, you know how those Asians love their video games"   -DJT

Never understood how the pea-brained right wing, which is supposedly all about free market capitalism and gets totally freaked out about socialism, could support a guy whose trade policies are so similar to Hugo Chavez's. I disliked Trump from the beginning because his thoughts on trade are really infantile and are similar to the ideas that a banana republic nationalist dictator would roll out.

Because it was never about tariffs or NAFTA or MAGA. It was simply about pure unadulterated racism. As long as Trump lived up to his pledge of keeping the white race dominant in society, his supporters would support him unflinchingly.

I don't agree with that.  The reason why is I saw an old interview that Trump had with Chris Matthews.  It was from 2004 but I'm pretty confident that Trump still feels the same way about the dollar.  He talked about how he likes a weak dollar.  Then I got to thinking about how Mnuchin was picked as treasury secretary and how he played a role in the last housing crash.  Of course Trump likes a weak dollar.  It's easier for him to buy real estate and a housing crash would be great as well.  I think that's what he really wants to occur but would prefer it to be after 2020 and then he can just blame Democrats for it anyway.

I believe the Republicans are causing damage to themselves anyway.  It appears the Republicans have been emboldened by the results in 2016 and now think that half the country supports a far-right agenda.  Only 23% of eligible voters cast ballots for Trump and there are too many moderates and independents for that to actually be true.  They're advancing some of the biggest hardliners and pushing moderates aside.  That's a big mistake to me.

China will impose 50 billion in tariffs on US goods...

President Trump say's ...I'll see your $50 Billion and raise you $200 Billion...

President Trump said Monday he's directed his administration to identify $200 billion worth of Chinese goods that will be subject to additional tariffs, escalating the ongoing trade dispute between the U.S. and China.

China will run out of items to put tariffs on.

America sends China $125 billion yearly. China send us $500 billion yearly...

China can’t put $250 billion of tariffs on us because we only send them $125 billion...........

China can’t win this trade war..........President Trump knows exactly what he’s doing.

Of course, this is absolutely true-

Who do you think will buckle first?- that's an important question-

I know having a President with a set of b@lls is new to you libtards, but it's reality-

Some people blink, others do not- which are you?

For most 70 somethings, Donny is in decent shape...just imagine what Kim Jong will look like at that age...either a huge 400lb blimp or dies of a heart attack before he hits 50.

Trump is correct in going after China because they eventually seek to defeat us both economically, and militarily ...   How ??

China already acquires American Technology under unfair trade practices.    Many American companies are forced to accept technology transfers to gain access to the Chinese Market.  China's foreign-ownership restrictions require American firms to enter into "joint ventures" as minority partners in sectors that Beijing considers strategic.    Trump is trying to blow this unfair trade practice up, and is willing to amp up the tariffs until China cries Uncle (which they likely will).

Why is this important ??   Because the Chinese Government has a "Made in China 2025" initiative where they seek to dominate emerging technology industries.   (Think artificial intelligence &  robotics).  China wants to acquire the best  American Technology and intellectual property, ... and then promptly use it against .. both economically and militarily.

Trump is right to go after China.    Thank god he has both the courage and vision to take these steps.

Circle July 6th on your calendar, because this is when The stock market will tank if China doesn't get their Sh*T together.

I'd recommend People  take a long-term view of this tariff back and forth, and get ready for a bumpy stock market ride.  We should gladly trade this for better trade deal in the future that will help us both economically & militarily.

In case anyone is wondering, these are the views held by Peter Navarro, Trump's Director of the White House Trade Council..    Peter and Robert Lighthizer are the trade hawks, and align with Trump's America 1st Policy most closely...

Trump putting his foot down further today.  Many Chinese companies will be excluded from investing in U.S. firms.

American Technology theft by China is at the heart of U.S. actions/tariffs  against China.

I think the markets are finally realizing today that the U.S. is not backing down on its position.  Will be interesting to see how China responds ; they are nearing a bear market of its own and likely have little appetite to deal with a full scale trade war....

Notice how Trump watches financial stock tickers, he sent out the signal to calm the markets...sheesh what a joke.

Trump likes to act tough and throw down the hammer but he is just a market slave like all of them.

I don't think so, Wall.  Trump neglected pumping up the stock market's gains months ago...

He is focused on Tarriffs, and the long-term risk China poses to the U.S.

Trade Hawks rule the roost now, and those that didn't get the job done  on trade talks with China month's ago  (Gary Cohn departing, Steve Mnuchin, Larry Kudlow),  have a diminished role.

I think he likes to take credit for the stock market and I have no doubt he is concerned about protecting this fake image about him being responsible for the stock market increase.
