Don't get fooled by Cal's excellent first half against Oregon. The Bears have a reputation for matching up well against spread offenses and poorly against pro style offenses. They gave the Ducks a big scare in their 2010 game also.
Cal is also notorious for playing well in the first half of games and then fading in the end. Tedford is not good at making adjustments during the game. What you see in the first quarter is usually what you get for the entire game, with Tedford coached teams. USC's pro style offenses gives the Bears fits every year. the Trojans have owned Cal in the last few years and they seem to match up better against the Bears than any other Pac-12 team.
Look for Teford to come out with a strong offensive game plan to keep the game close at the half. USC will dominate the second half with Tyler running the ball, and Lee cathcing passes. Woods will be more of a decoy in the second half. This game will be high scoring, and i really like the first half overs:
Final Score: USC-38 CAL-31

I already stated earlier on how Cal seems to start off strong in their games and slow it down in the 3rd and 4th qtr.
James is a beast and had a very solid game against Cal last week but before that Cal had the top 10 ranked run defense. Although USC has a solid ground game I think Cal's run defense gets back on track here.
Cal has a solid run game as well with Isi Sofele. USC has a weak pass defense that ranks 98th in the nation. Cal's solid ground game should help take some pressure off Maynard when passing situations arise.
Cal seems like a solid home team as they are 17-5 ats since 2007,,,,but USC has basically owned Cal lately as USC has taken 7 straight games SU and 5-2 ats.
The last time Cal hosted USC...well USC pretty much killed them. But that's why I feel that Cal will come strong in the first half in this one. I'm staying away from the final but...
Cal at the half +1.5
Aloha and good luck to all

USC returning 14 players this year (7 Off, 7 Def)
CAL returning 12 players this year (7 Off, 5 Def)
Cal's qb Maynard is a transfer from UB and is playing his 6th game with the team. I dont think he's used to playing in big games in a much better conference. Once Oregon got up a couple scores he started forcing throws and it almost looked like he got rattled. USC's biggest weakness is defense so he might be able to exploit it if CAL's defense doesnt give up a big lead early. USC lost two key recievers from last year in Johnson and Ausberry but this year they have Woods and Lee so its not much of a loss for them. CAL lost a DE a few LB's and 2 CB's so look for the accurate Matt Barkley to find holes in the middle and hit his new good looking recievers. CAL puts up a fight but USC eventually pulls away in the 2nd half.

People making a lot of USC having a bye week. So far this year, teams coming off a by week are 12-21 ATS.
The books give a "WTF?" line like this and 70% are chomping at the bait. No capping necessary - that's all I need to know.

I dont think the stats point towards USC,
I think the stats point to Cal. But for some reason everyone thinks USC is a gift and the home field is not an advantage in this game.
I disagree, both teams look even to me and might even lean towards Cal. but with cal getting points, Ill take Cal for the half and the Game.
Good Luck All,
