it's that time again. i'm going to need all of the penalty box contributors to stop following baseball and start your research into the upcoming NFL season (and soccer, of course).
as you may recall, last season was outstanding. we were just a few percentage points below 60% for the season and had a winning playoffs. that came after going 59.5% a couple of seasons ago and winning in that playoff season as well. but keep in mind, there were a few mediocre seasons mixed in so, as always, understand there are no guarantees with the newsletter. and more importantly, because this is nothing if not a collaboration of many quality, knowledgeable nfl degenerates in here, the last few seasons have been outstanding from all contributors. i may or may not have a good season, but there are always people who do.
i just checked and saw that last year's newsletter came out on the 4th monday in july. not that i'm superstitious or anything, but let's fire it up on the 4th monday in july this year as well.
the rules are the same. the shrimp will be terrible this season. everyone is welcome to comment on anything football (or soccer ) related. you can post picks or not. you can keep a record or not. basically, do whatever the f*ck you want, but we try to keep the discussions related to the nfl, gambling, the ineptitude of baltimore sports and whatever other good-natured harassment of other members in which you want to engage. there will be picks posted every week. historically, they win more than they lose. but this is gambling so anyone can lose in any season. ClubDirtSports been doing this here for a long time and we've never had an nfl season below .500. BUT, we've had a couple near .500 and have had some very rough stretches and could obviously have a shite season at any time.
that being said, if you want to discuss or learn about the nfl and gambling in general (i think nfl gambling is a different animal than any other league), this weekly thread is usually a good place to do it.
ok, off we go. i'll have a few actually arguably helpful items in the next post. nothing substantial yet, but enough to get us started. join in when ready.
