I think this is a bad spot for SMU in this cross-town match-up.
SMU is off of a huge revenge game against USC on Saturday, the team that knocked the Mustangs out of the NCAA Tourney last year in a game where SMU was favored by 8. I just can't see them coming into this game with the much emotion and see this as a let down situation after their big win by 17 over USC after trailing at half-time.
TCU is 8-0 with two nice victories away from home against New Mexico and St. Bony. I also like the fact that you are getting a ranked team at home at a small number of -4.
This is also a strong revenge situation for TCU as they have lost the last 2 meetings against what were much more talented SMU teams.
I also see some considerable value in the -4 line. Both teams played ULM at home this year. The Books had TCU favored by 24.5 and SMU favored by 17. This would indicate that TCU would be favored by 7.5 on a neutral court.
Other than the let down spot for SMU, another significant reason I do not like the Mustangs in this situation is their performance on the road against W. Ky (lost 61-63 as a 10 pt. favorite) and N. Iowa (lost 58-61 as a 9 point favorite). If this is any indication of what type of team they have, I think TCU could get a double digit win tonight.

SMU fan here and local. Going to the game tonight. I think these teams are more even than you think.
You fail to mention in your write up that SMU also beat Arizona (on the road). Their two loses took place at the same tournament in Bahamas and they lost by a combined 5 points. SMU is coming off a very impressive win (at home) against ranked USC. Beating USC and Zona are far more impressive than any wins TCU has this season. While this is SMU's first "real" road game i.e. not at a tournament, it is 40 minutes from campus.
I appreciate your analysis that TCU was favored by 24 and SMU by 17 against the same ULM team at home - but that was a long time ago (first game for TCU and second game for SMU).
TCU won by 10, SMU won by 20.
How much has changed since them? SMU wants this game against its cross town rival, and confidence is sky high after dismantling USC.
My two cents! Ill take the 4 points. I will also be on Texas A&M tonight, Marquette, and VCU.

Hey nice to know another local Dallas/Ft. Worth guy is on the Basketball Forum. I am sure Big D is also local. I grew up in basketball country (Lou. Ky) and played for a small school before going professional in golf. Welcome to the forum. All opinions are welcome. Hope you enjoyed the game although you team did not win.
