I've been thinking about the top guys, and wondering how many majors will they win over the next 5 years. I chose 5 because that will most likely (again, I say most likely) be the extent of winning for these men for the rest of their careers, given their ages and the miles on their "tires."
Roger Federer --(2) -- The man may be the greatest player in the history of the game. He has 17 slams to his credit already. It's hard to ever count him out. He's been surprisingly resilient the past few seasons and still a dominant force even at the age of 31. But I see enough cracks in the armor to see the end coming in about 3 years, as far as being a contender for a major title. I say he wins 2 more Slams and that's it for Club Fed. That will give him a career total of 19.
Rafael Nadal -- (4) -- This seems foolish, to only predict four more majors for Rafa. He's only 26 years old, and for the most part in excellent shape. But his knee will most likely give him trouble for the rest of his career, especially on hard surfaces. Even though these top guys I am listing are doing a great job of holding off any young talent that comes in, that gets increasingly difficult with each year that ticks on the clock. Nadal is still going to be dominant on clay for a couple years. So he'll win another two French Opens, and maybe a slam or two other than that. But it's going to be difficult, and I may be giving him too much credit saying he'll win 4. Add that to his career number of 11, and that will give him 15 Grand Slam titles total.
Novak Djokovic -- (7) -- This man truly is an amazing specimen. Supreme conditioning. And he doesn't turn 26 until this year's French. I see him having trouble winning the French Open, although this might be the one year he can do it. Since he has five good years of winning in front of him, I can see him adding that to a couple more US Opens, a Wimbledon and a couple Aussie titles, and I think he'll win seven total to add to the 6 he already has. That would give him 13. This is one guy that might win one or two more after 5 years from now. But I'll stick with the five year parameter and figure he'll have trouble after that. Just my opinion.
Andy Murray -- (3) -- An incredible breakthrough year for a man that had been in the top four for a couple of seasons now. Instead of slipping back, he improved and fought through amazing obstacles to finally get a slam (US Open) and to win the Olympic Gold medal at Wimbledon, beating Federer. I just see him getting better and better the past two years, and can hardly believe this man will only win 3 more major titles. He's 25, turning 26 this May. So he has some contending years in front of him. I just see his run ending in a couple years, because I really believe his body will break down. Plus his inability to win in Paris will block him from adding more championships. 3 more will add to his one Grand Slam title to give him a total of four. Still a great career, given the competition he has to face.
Okay, given my five year question, those add up to 20 total possible Slams and I'm predicting 16 of them to go to these guys. There isn't a doubt in my mind that the rest of the field will prove me wrong and win more than four Slams in the next five years. So you guys can tell me where I'm wrong, both collectively and individually. And in your opinion, you can tell me how many these guys will win in the next five years.
