past several years have ripped off some pretty big wins, as in Serie A, ya just cant take things at 'face-value' the final wknd. it is what it is. not banking on that this year and to be honest, after the past few days.... today feels kind of anti-climatic. mindful to not go heavy on anything.
first of all, like our little group says, in the final weekend 'take all the overs and then go cap the matches'.
as posted, already took these last week:
Genoa/Torino @-145
Milan/Fior @-120 -
Cagliari/Atalanta @-125
SPAL/Samp @-130
Udine/Bologna @-145
Lazio/Inter @-130
Adding:
Sass/Roma + Napoli/Crotone over 2.5 @evens
Cagliari/Atalanta - some are saying Cagliari in danger of dropping. I dont buy it. as mentioned before, southern italy always has 'assurances' of being represented; and these island boys out there in Sardina. a win guarantees this, a draw might not be enuff. Atalanta should be worried after hearing this sh*t going on up in Milan (later); but a draw and getting the point will clinch europe. whcih is probably the most likely outcome as theyve won only once in their past 6 trips here. a high scoring draw might be in the cards. PASS with any side.
Chievo/Benevento - already on this the second the lines came out. one of the Verona clubs gets to stay. tho mathematically they own almost every conceivable tiebreaker advantage over the 4 teams below them; a win here would make that a moot issue. and vs a now unmotivated, worst in Serie A on road this should be a comfortable win.
Chievo -1 @-133
Genoa/Torino - meaningless match. both going nowhere. just going to stick with the 'over'.
Lazio/Inter - 'Game of the Year' for both. CL spot up for grabs with tons of drama too. Immobile at start of week says hes fit (which doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out what Mr. Selfish wants) must have miracuously applied that "cream" and all his problems went away.
ohhh.... the Capocannoniere (scoring title)... is also up for grabs too. Immobile is 1-up over Icardi. all i know is this is gonna be one helluva final 30 minutes. a draw does Lazio fine, but if theyre gonna depend on their defense to carry the day they are in a heap of trouble. that 2nd half over looks tasty. forget about the 0-0 draw in last meeting, this is an entirely different scenario with tons at stake. ONE of these teams will be needing to throw the kitchen sink forward from the 60th min onwards and whomever scores? the opposite applies. and both are lethal on counters.
but with Immobile not at 100%, Alberto (leads Serie A in assists) is out. and (laughing)........ deVrij. Devrij is Lazios starting center-back, for 36 times this season he's been the "cog" in the middle of their defense. well.... he just signed a contract recently to join Inter next year. which has caused all sorts of mental problems for Inzaghi this week, buddy down there with his nose to the ground says he still hasnt decided whether to put him in lineup. i mean, seriously.... WOULD YOU? with a CL spot up for grabs and ur best defender set to join the team ur fighting for the spot with (laughing).
but those 3 'missings' are right down the backbone of a teams formation (middle of the field). with no injuries from Inters camp + an in form Icardi, even though its on the road these prices are well worth the risk
Inter to win @+180
***NOTE. just found out all 10 guys in the top half of fantasy league have Icardi for our striker this week. (cazzo!! looks like ill be stuck in 3rd)***

Milan/Fior - Milan rolling over?? im having a hard time swallowing this one; problem is the guy telling me this knows way more sh*t than I do. Milan already in europe, Fior need to beat them, need cagliari to beat Atalanta, and need to make up a 7 goal differential to get in. thats a TALL order. Astoris passing mid-season (he came up thru Milans youth academy) and the link between these two clubs is strong. this much i DO know; constant loan/trades between them. and Milan have a host of injuries. not to mention all that drama over Gattuso being on the hot seat and Sarri being interested. winning in San Siro?? by multiple goals too? aww scr*w it, ive seen worse. out of respect.
***update*** Suso is out, hurt during training today. thats a big part of Milans offense.
Fiorentina to win @+333, Fior -1.5 @+650 (small)
Napoli/Crotone - Carousel Time. where do I start? Sarri threw many under the bus when they dropped behind Juve; scheduling, not enuff done during transfers, effort. (Mourinhos little brother). and now hes linked to other openings. perhaps he shouldnt have flipped the finger at Juve fans while walking off field. media has been all over their case the whole week about "needing to break up the team" and start over fresh. Owner made some of the dumbest comments to add fuel to everything too. But this roster littered with players whom will be in Russia and all have exactly that on their minds. Crotone fighting for their relegation lives in the drop zone and dont even think a pt will be enuff here, so theyll be gunning for a win.
One thing to note: the line being in the 200s is awfully low - which pretty much supports everything said above. when these two played back at the end of December Napoli CLOSED in the 500s, on the road too; now theyre just 200s at home?? ahhh, good ole Serie A.
Crotone +.5 @+167, Crotone to win @+500
Sass/Roma - meaningless. just gonna ride the 'over' here. PASS on sides.
SPAL/Samp - tricky one. SPAL level with Crotone but will remain up if win or simply match whatever Crotone does; small problem though.... both havesame start times. their motivation is sky high for this one but concerned the pressure might build. Sampdoria has had me reaching for the aspirin bottle all year long. my god theyve 1) blown chunks on road with just 4 wins in 18 matches 2) the amount theyve conceded is almost twice of what theyve scored <19/37> 3. have scored just ONCE in their last 7 matches and 4) they havent beaten any of the newly relegated clubs to Serie A on the road in the past 4 years. should hammer this one but... ehhhh, home side is down there at the bottom for a reason.
SPAL -1 @+108
Udinese/Bologna - for the visitors this is meaningless. for Udine, theyre still in relegation danger; hosed me last week by finally winning one. actually these two have a combined 2 wins in their last 26 serie A matches. PASS on the side and just ride the over.

DONE!!!!! (closing the books on Serie A) for the season.
pj, yoro, vaas when Fior went up 1-0 we were like "this cant be happening" tho i tailed, that guy is the kind where had it hit we'd be hearing about it all summer long. 'a win with strings attached' is what we felt. so yeah, kinda nice to see Milan come back. lol. ill eat that loss.
mbappe, wci appreciate it. ive said many times already this year, and though i cant speak for anyone else, im sure most of the regulars/vets in here will agree with me; having knowledge of a specific league doesnt guarantee profits. (some ppl have a hard time grasping that concept in their heads). whether ur interests are from russia to england or norway to portugal, havingknowledge helps the most in knowing when to avoid certain matches or when to hit one. nothing more, and nothing less.
johnny, dukes if more soccer matches were played like that the sport just MIGHT be able to draw in those neutrals instead of every 4 years. though it hit, lets be honest here, not gonna stick out thy chest, that red card helped. but as i expected, geez, that last half hour was FUN.
a good year & 3rd in a pretty darn tough fantasy league.
but life without Gigi starts next year i really dont want to think about that right yet.
