in my opinion it is a little crazy to bet a cupcake opener with a spread of more than 17-21.
i'm guessing you have not been betting on CFB for very long...
mettenberger is coming in with a lot of hype...if he lives up to it, the sky is the limit...even if LSU puts up 35 in the first half, ZM will not come out until halfway through the 4th, even if he hands off the ball, to get the game time speed that Thorpe referenced...
I encourage all of those not on LSU in week 1 to look elsewhere, and take N Texas plus the points at your own peril...

Being a UNT alum, I have to say, their offense used to be ANEMIC.
But, with the new coach coming in... who knows. But, I wouldn't bet on UNT vs. LSU.
They haven't had a decent quarterback since Hall left in the mid 2000's. I'm interested to see if the spread is 40-45. I might still take LSU...

Their RB Lance Dunbar graduated... I am pretty sure he went to the NFL. He was literally the whole offense last year... and the year before that.
With one year under McCarney's belt, he finally got to recruit his players, so it will be interesting to see if there is any switch.
They lost 41-0 to Alabama last year in Week# 3.

That being said, Week# 1 is the week to pick underdogs... I just don't think UNT is a good option @ LSU.
It will depend on the spread. I might eat my words.

Yea LSU IS at home tho... Maybe if they were in N TX then N TX would have the edge to cover. You figure LSU may lay off late in the 4th on the road a little bit. At home they just might dismantle them tho. It just might be 56-3 or 59-0. -43 is a crap load of chalk. I couldnt play no damn 43. However...
I think if they are teased in any form or fashion its a cover but I like the line straight up anything below 40. -38 would be lovely

Poor Akron, it'll be tough for them to be worse than last year....but definitely possible.....fade material at its best.
