Don't count out South America, Central America, and North America. The Americas did VERY well in this past WC. I know it was in South America, but wow did they play good.
Some teams to watch for in the Americas IMO:
Costa Rica: played very well and should have advanced if not for choking in penalty kicks vs the Dutch. They clearly outplayed the Netherlands in the match, just couldn't get one to go in.
Colombia: Watch out for this team! James Rodriguez was an absolute STUD in this past WC and the team played very well even without their best player Radamel Falcao! This team is a great value pick to win the whole thing.
Chile: They should have beat Brazil and advanced. Lots of young talent and Vidal is gonna be a household name soon.
Mexico: Should have beat the Netherlands if not for giving up two goals in the last 3 mins of regulation. One of the biggest choke jobs in recent history, but they played well. Goalie Ochoa is a stud and they have lots of scoring potential with Chicharito and Dos Santos and crew. Remember, this team won the Gold Medal in the Olympics a few years ago.
Brazil: Always dangerous. Yes, they are not the same team as years past, but I think the butt kicking that Germany gave them will wake them up. Can never count them out.
Argentina: Lionel Messi is the best player in the world. Whenever you have that on your team, you are always a threat. The runner ups will be hungry to get back to the championship game next WC, and with promising young talent around the corner, watch out for them.
Uruguay: Yes their roster is getting older and their star players have lost a step or two with age, but it is still a potent lineup. Their U20 and U17 teams are performing very well, and they will surely call up some those players for the main team. Do not count them out!
