Sorry Everyone!!! I have not recorded my record consistently/accurately. I will do so for now on and am looking to be a regular on this forum!!! Lets get started...
YTD: 0-0-0
POD: 0-0-0
Parlay: 0-0-0
*** POD *** Chicago Cubs -115 (5.75U for 5.0U)
First off the Astros are a horrid 9-25 on the road. I would never back this team on the road. I have a feeling this could be a clean Cubs series sweep. Houston just played at home last night against the Padres, now are expected to fly all the way to Chicago and play a morning game??? The Astros were up 3-1 against the Pads and blew it by giving up 6 runs in the ninth. I think this will be a hangover for tomorrow and their woes will continue. Cubs got a day off after being blown out by the Mets 17-1. The difference is that the Cubs were at home and did not have to travel, the Mets are a good team at the moment, and the Cubbies got a day off to get over the embarrassment.
Onto the Pitchers... Bud Norris will the start for the Astros. In his last three games, he is a horrendous 0-3 with a 13.09 ERA and 2-3 with a 7.83 ERA on the road. Paul Maholm will start for the Cubs who is a respectable 3-2 with a 3.92 ERA at home. Paul Maholm's 0-1 and 6.46 ERA in his last 3 are a bit deceiving. First off, he has face 3 fairly good offensive teams. The first two, he faced the Tigers and Red Sox where he only gave up 3 and 2 Runs. He did get beat up in his recent start for 6 runs but that was against the D-Backs.
Miami Marlins -110 (5.5U for 5.0U)
Phillies are another team playing tomorrow, who are expected to make a considerably long flight after playing yesterday. They lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates yesterday 5-4 at home. Marlins are in the same position as the Cubs are, who got a day off after just playing a series at home. NO TRAVELING INVOLVED!!! Miami just got a huge victory over the Cardinals and will look to carry momentum into this one. Phillies are a very mediocre offensive team right now and will struggle against a red hot Josh Johnson.
Cliff Lee will start against the Marlins and is still searching for his first victory. Sadly, i love Lee but he will not get his win tonight. He has struggled recently, going 0-1 while giving up 6.30 ERA. Despite having a good 3.43 road ERA, the team is only 2-4 in those starts. Josh Johnson will pitch against Lee and he has been hot. 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA in his last 3. The team is only 1-2 in those starts but that was in the middle of their skid. This Marlins team is underacheiving and i expect them to get things rolling after the confidence boosting victory over the Cards. The Marlins are a righty heavy batting lineup and that will spell trouble for the Phillies lefty pitcher. I would say the same for Philadelphia's lefty heavy batting line-up, but they are not connecting and do not scare me.
