NBA is not going to Vegas.....Wait until the Vegas Knights are an average hockey team and see where all the attendance/support is then.....Not big enough City to support 3 major sport franchises. You look at all the Cities that have 3 major franchises and you see the population upward of 10 million +

the difference is that there are thousands of tourists in vegas on any given day so that means the potential attendance is always bigger than just city population

You go to Vegas to Gamble/Party/Nice Dinner & show...You are not going to Vegas to watch an NBA basketball game..You can do that anytime you want...

But you might combine these while you are there. It would be a perfect solution to a lot of european tourists who can do pretty much everything they want in one place.

The news: MGM Grand in Vegas signs an agreement with the NBA for $25 million to "use their video content", blah, blah. Translation: 1st installment on putting an NBA team in Vegas. MGM's CEO is on all the talk shows today - essentially saying as much.
Might as well put a fracking team there for God's sake, what's next....lingerie mud wrestling

You may want to check your facts.........There are only 3 metro areas with "upwards of 10 million".....(Here are the top 4)
NY - 20.1 mill
LA - 13.3 mill
Chi - 9.5 mill
Dallas - 7.2 mill
We've had this discussion before in another thread....it seems you like to make generalizations without the benefit of of real knowledge.....
You might not live in Vegas if you say this is a "transient town". Have a lot of people moved here? Yes. But they love it here (I'm one of those "transients") and are staying, raising families - who are also staying. Yes, generations (and generational wealth) are forming here in Sin City.
Not enough population? You have to look at more than the numbers that most cities show. Greater LV is at 2.5 mill and growing - quickly. We can't build housing fast enough (inventory is at an all-time low). But the thing most outsiders miss....and what Bill Foley and Mark Davis and their leagues came to understand....is that there's on average another 450,000 tourists/transients (whatever you want to call them) that carry the spending/economic wallop of at least another million always here. A closer look will also show that international investment and wealth transfers into Las Vegas is overly disproportional by a factor of nearly 10 compared to other American cities.
PB smartly pointed out that the "locals" made up most of the support base for VGK - yes, that's what you all saw at T-Mobile and City National Arena with the Knights. But make no mistake about the commitment of the big in-town hospitality and tech businesses - and unique to Vegas, nearly as large commitments from out of town corporations wanting to establish a foothold here with both the booming population and the tourists.
It's easy to make generalizations without the benefit of knowledge - most make the same assumptions about Vegas.

So are you one of those that support UNLV basketbal?...Attendance has dropped off considerably the last few years since they are not winning....You can't use Vegas knights as an example..Ofcourse they are going to be an exception the 1st year as they are an expansion team and the hype of having a professional team + winning = hype and attendance. Wait till they are an average to bad team and that will tell all. Any city in America supports winning championship teams. Raiders are a somewhat National/West Coast team..You can put them anywhere and they will have fan support. Keep dreaming...NBA will not come to Vegas.

Do you ever check for facts? First off, comparing UNLV to the NBA is not a great comparison...but let's see what the FACTS say.
UNLV Basketball is mediocre right now for sure - but it's attendance last year was higher than programs like Oregon, Notre Dame, Cal, Texas A&M, and yes, Nevada. The Rebels drew attendance on par with UCLA, Texas, Xavier, Witch St. and Florida. And yes, I DID go to 6 games last year - and it was great. Entertaining for sure...because UNLV knows how to put on a good show for both it's students and locals. Of course we'd love for the Tarkanian years to come back...but this town DOES support UNLV. You are likely making the mistake of confusing being on National TV with being supported by the fans.
Ok...let's make a closer comparison - how about if Las Vegas supports NBA games actually PLAYED here. Yes...you've heard of the NBA Summer League haven't you? Any summer league that is NOT supported gets the boot (hence Orlando lost their league to Sacramento this year)
In contrast, the NBA Summer League in Vegas is a HUGE success - going on 14 years now. Attendance gos UP every year - for games that don't count. Because of the success here, the NBA fielded teams for all 30 teams for the 1st time. Guess who the NBA uses to help run the Summer League here? Yep, UNLV. Guess where they play the Summer League here? Yep, Thomas & Mack - home of UNLV. Do you see a pattern here? Btw, the games are really fun......Again, Vegas knows how to put on events really well.
So let's see....we support UNLV even when they are mediocre. We support NBA Teams we have no affiliation with in games that don't even count. And one of the smartest businessmen in America (Jim Murren of MGM) decides to plunk $25 million in Adam Silver's lap for data that he doesn't need and to put logos on a betting app?
