For those who enjoy a good pattern scenario for Super Bowl outcomes, I had this random thought when comparing the Patriots 1st 3 Super Bowl wins to their last 2 super bowl wins and their attempt at #6. And here is what I discovered:
Win #1: 2001 season vs. St. Louis (NFC West) who were going for back to back SB championships, lose to the Pats.
Win #2: 2003 season vs. Carolina (NFC South) - after missing the Super Bowl the year before, win it the season after in Houston
Win #3: 2004 season vs. Philadelphia (NFC East) - Pats win back 2 back
Now fast forward 10 years......
Win #4: 2014 season vs. Seattle (NFC West) who were going for back to back SB championships, lose to the Pats.
Win #5: 2016 season vs. Atlanta (NFC South) after missing the Super Bowl the year before, win it the season after in Houston
Potential win #6: vs. PHILADELPHIA (NFC EAST)
This pattern is either crazy or just a coincidence, but if history repeats itself then the Pats win SU. ATS is up for debate. Thoughts?

Also to note that after beating the Eagles in the Super Bowl 2004, the Patriots lost both their Offensive Coordinator (Charlie Weis) and Defensive Coordinator (Romeo Crennel) to head coaching jobs elsewhere following the win. This is likely to occur with the Patriots this year. Major coincidences in this one.

Or the fact that the Eagles played the same teams in the playoffs in 2005....
Mindblown.
Very true, only in the opposite order.
Also, the both Super Bowls that the Patriots missed in this scenario (2002, 2015 seasons) were both played in California and both match-ups featured a AFC West team vs. a NFC South Team.

Years from now some researching, degenerate, gambler will look back at the Patriot era and see this pattern and the ats madness and wish that it was he that could of been around to follow this magical, vegas crushing, dynasty in existence.

I'm sure future degenerates will have their version of the NE dynasty at some point.
