Seriously?
Seriously, why do people put so much emphasis on titles won when evaluating a QB? Jeff Hostetler has a ring for goodness sake. Elway was brilliant, but never won until they got a running game. That's not his fault. Marino never won, but was that his fault completely?
E. Manning hands out TO's like Halloween candy.
Rivers has 136/58 TD to TO ratio. Manning has a 156/113 ratio.
I think Rivers is better. I think Schaub is just as good. Vick has had one nice year.....not good enough. Romo had 3 pretty solid years before getting hurt last year.
And is there any doubt that the Giants defense was primarily responsible for their SB title? Not in my mind. If not for that amazing defense, NE would have won by 20.
Bottom line is, he's not as horrible as many in this thread make him out to be. But he's certainly not as good as some are making him out to be either.
As is typical of covers, you have people overreacting on both sides of the argument.

His greatness was largely a function of his longevity. The main thing he has gotten heat for (and he's gotten PLENTY) is the fact that he turned it over too much.
I don't think anyone called him top 5 QB talent for quite some time as his career progressed.
And Favre's TD to INT ratio was pretty damn good during the part of his career where Manning is now. Lifetime, it's 1.51/1 (and that's after enduring quite a few bad seasons down the stretch). Manning's is 1.38 and he's in his prime years.

I would think if you're talking about Eli being an elite qb or a top 5 qb then he would at least he'd be the best out of his draft. Roethlisberger and Rivers are clearly better than him and out of those 3 the only one to even consider as a top 5 qb would be Roethlisberger. Eli is without a doubt the most overrated qb in the league with Roethlisberger being the most underrated.....

yes, football is a team game, and using the argument of rings solely to anoint anyone as a great QB is a horseshit argument... but you still have to have the brain to know what your eyes are seeing when you watch a QB play in the NFL, and the vast majority of people don't have it...
those who do, know that Eli is the real deal, and one of the best QBs in the NFL... those who don't, make the mistake of comparing him to Tony Romo!
