Fun, fun, fun day yesterday. Flotilla got me through unscathed, but choosing Market Mix over Zagora and then not boxing it, was a brutal beat.
Some thoughts for today:
Turf Sprint
Corp. Jungle should have this race fall in his lap on the turnback. I know there are a lot of trends with regards to "horse for the course" and all, but Brown and Castellano were exceptional yesterday and I fully expect similar results. In the FWIW category, do the Euro trainers kick themselves for jockey selection after the fact? Can't help but think that Ramon would have gotten The Fugue up w/o question.
Juvie Turf
Artigiano has a tactical advantage and a jockey who always gets the best run. He appears bred to like the firm going, has a great post and should get first crack at the leaders. He would be my "A" but also seriously considering the 14&15. I am avoiding all horses who have won on Lasix as best I can.
Filly & Mare Sprint
Groupie Doll looks best, but Rumor, Switch and Turbulent Descent are worth a look at a price.
The Sprint
I think each of the 3YOs have an opportunity to to be better today and anything better than what they've shown is a winner. The Lumber Guy only needs to pair up and the race is over. The Lumber Guy, Trinninberg and Jimmy Creed (Mandella pulling the strings) are the picks.
Dirt Mile
Fed Biz and Rail Trip have two turn winning experience over the surface and their PPs are competitive anywhere. Rail Trip is my top choice, because I really believe this pace will fall apart, and Valdivia is a perfect jock for a ground saving trip and picking them up in the lane.
The Turf
I may use Point of Entry, but his competition is soooo suspect! So let me contradict myself in the next sentence and say my top choice is Cogito. They brought this 3YO over to Belmont and caught a gd trf course and didn't fire (didn't need to that day). Today he gets firm ground, and Frankie is back again (note he traveled to NYC for the Jamaica).
I will use Shareta and ST. NA & POE, but Cogito is my top choice.
The Juvie
Good Luck here. I would spread with 8,9,1,4,7. I would definitely not leave the only horse who has not raced with Lasix off my ticket.....Fortify.
The Classic
Flat Out, Fort Larned & Game On Dude appear to be top choices, but Ron the Greek, THAS and Mucho Macho would not surprise me.
The Mile
Excelebration & Wise Dan appear to be the creme, however 8 of 9 of these would not shock me.
Best of Luck Today!
