Recap: 49ers 48, Buccaneers 3

Alex Smith threw three touchdown passes, including two to tight end Vernon Davis, as the San Francisco 49ers extended their winning streak to three games Sunday with a 48-3 drubbing of the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Frank Gore ran for 125 yards and a score for San Francisco, which owns a 4-1 record for the first time since 2002.

Smith, who was 11 of 19 for 170 yards, connected with Davis for TDs of 23 yards in the third and 14 yards early in the fourth to make it 41-3. Davis has 23 touchdowns since the start of the 2009 season, tops among NFL tight ends.

San Francisco held LeGarrette Blount to 34 yards on 10 carries, marking the 27th consecutive time the 49ers have not allowed a 100-yard rusher.

Josh Freeman completed 17 of 33 passes for 187 yards with two interceptions for Tampa Bay (3-2), which has lost nine of its last 10 visits to San Francisco.

The 49ers, who have won four of five at home against Tampa Bay, took a 7-0 lead less than five minutes into the game and never looked back as Smith hooked up with Delanie Walker for a 26-yard touchdown.

Carlos Rogers intercepted a Freeman pass and ran it back 31 yards for a score 14 seconds into the second quarter for a 14-3 advantage and Gore had a 2-yard TD run less than seven minutes later to up the lead.
