Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer -- doubtful before the game after suffering a concussion nine days earlier - zipped a fade pass to Denzel Mims with 7 seconds left to cap a dramatic drive and give the Bears a 35-31 win over Oklahoma State on Saturday in Waco, Texas.

After the Cowboys seemed to have grabbed control with a methodical third-quarter offensive performance, the Bears roared back with quick strikes and gutsy calls that yielded the game-winning touchdown drive.

The Cowboys (5-4, 2-4 Big 12) were on track to overcome a season-worst 12 penalties for 133 yards and some kicking-game woes before the Bears (5-4, 3-3) started their eight-play, 55-yard drive with 1:31 left on the clock.

Oklahoma State gobbled up 166 yards in the third quarter - part of a stretch when the Cowboys scored on three consecutive drives to erase a 14-10 halftime deficit. Tylan Wallace produced touchdowns on the Cowboys' first two series after halftime on a 6-yard run and 8-yard throw from quarterback Taylor Cornelius.

Baylor hung close on John Lovett's electric 75-yard touchdown run when he juked one would-be tackler and outraced the Cowboys' secondary to the end zone to make the score 24-21.

Justice Hill pushed the Oklahoma State lead back to 31-21 at the 8:55 juncture of the fourth quarter with a 2-yard run that was set up on a throwback pass from Wallace to Cornelius for 24 yards.

The Bears responded with their best drive of the day, covering 86 yards in eight plays, and when Brewer connected with Jalen Hurd for 36 yards - Baylor's longest pass play of the day - the deficit was 31-28 with 5:43 to go.

The Cowboys had a chance to run out the clock and did manage to drain more than 4 minutes. But the Bears snuffed out a dubious fourth-down play call when Chris Miller dumped Cornelius for a 9-yard loss to set up the game-winning possession.

In the first half, after Oklahoma State churned out an 80-yard drive to start the scoring, the Bears jumped in front 14-10 when C.J. Morgan blocked a Cowboys' punt and Trestan Ebner scooped up the ball and dashed 7 yards for a TD.

An Oklahoma State field goal try also was blocked, and Baylor squandered a chance to score when a fake field goal went awry.
